I feel like people just don’t appreciate Ray Stantz and his part in Ghostbusters as a whole enough.
Like, this man is the whole reason why they were able to start up in the first place. He lost everything when things dissolved after the first film and not only was it due to him financially that Ghostbusters became a thing, but Ray put his whole heart into Ghostbusters. His WHOLE heart.
This man is so sweet and loves what he does and everybody just kinda overlooks him and I don’t get it? Like, Ray is SUCH an important key player in their story and yet I see a kind of minimal amount of appreciation for him.
Ecto is pretty much his baby, and he’s clearly a handyman type so I’m more than willing to bet that most of the repairs on the firehouse were done by him. Don’t get me wrong, I love Egon and Peter and Winston, but where is the recognition for Ray?
No matter what, Ray is along for the ride. Even in Afterlife, he’s the first to spring into action and get all the guys together despite whatever may have happened in the time since we last saw the guys. He is not only the heart of the Ghostbusters, but the glue that holds the whole thing together and without him it just wouldn’t work. His love and enthusiasm for science and the paranormal are a major driving force behind everything. I knew in my heart he would come through, because that’s just who he is.
I just feel so much for him and from him as a character, because he clearly puts so much love into everything he does. Maybe this has become a bit of a rant, but I guess I can’t really help it. I see the way Dan’s enthusiasm shines through when he plays Ray and more than anything I hope he knows how beloved he himself as well as the character of Ray are by so many.
So, in short, put some respect on Ray’s name dang it!
