consider this: ayano is the only person who can talk to claude anymore

claude hangs out by the fountain and late at night when everyones asleep she goes out there and sits next to him. as a ghost he properly gets really sad a lot and his head hurts but she comforts him and talks to him and distracts him with stories and things and shoes him some cool tricks she can do. one of those nights ayano and claude are sitting and claude asks her if its possible for her to touch ghosts and she says why and he says because if it wouldnt be a bother he would love to hold her hand they both get flustered and he apologizes and shE doesnt know what to say and
