👻 What is Phi Ta Khon?

Phi Ta Khon is a unique masked festival held in Dan Sai District,

Loei Province, and forms part of the annual Bun Luang Festival,

a local tradition passed down through generations.

🎭 Why the Ghost Masks?

According to local legend, when Prince Vessantara returned to his city,

spirits and forest creatures followed him back in celebration.

The procession became known as "Phi Tam Khon" (ghosts following people),

which is believed to have evolved into the name "Phi Ta Khon."

🗓️ When is it held?

20–22 June 2026

📍 Dan Sai District, Loei Province

The grand Phi Ta Khon parade takes place on 21 June 2026.

20 June: Opening Ceremony

21 June: Grand Phi Ta Khon Parade

22 June: Merit-Making and Buddhist Activities
