Shadow Person, Ghostkin Tea Request

Anonymous asked for a Shadow person, ghostkin tea request! I’m not sure whether you intended for this to be two separate requests, one for a shadowkin and another for a ghostkin, or as one for a shadowy ghost, so I’m going to do one for each. Hopefully that way, I hit the mark no matter what!! 

For the Shadow aspect, I’ve picked out a Dark Chocolate Black Tea! This tea is really simple, and will taste exactly like what it sounds like. Expect rich, delectable dark chocolate and loads of punch. The seller recommends you take it with milk, which, to me, sounds like it’s going to taste like hot chocolate, but tea version. Which sounds fantastic? Who wouldn’t want the less calories and all the health benefits of black tea instead of sugary hot chocolate?

For the ghostkin bit, I’ve picked out a Lily Flower Tea. Lilies are the flower that is most commonly associated with death and funerals. They represent the innocence that has been restored to the departed soul, and the white color itself is reminiscent of the soul. The tea itself is very floral and aromatic and is sure to taste delicious! It also has many health properties, including clearing your skin and helping with colds! 

For the combination tea, I’ve decided to leave you this Pomegranate Black Tea, just like the Egyptians would leave pomegranates for their dead. Pomegranates also remind me of Persephone, the Greek goddess and wife of the god of the Underworld, Hades. They also have many antioxidant and other properties that will help take care of your living body when you don’t feel like you can. Hopefully the black tea will help meet the shadow part too!

HELP: Ghostkin Tea Masterpost

I'm thinking of doing a ghostkin tea post, but I'm going to need your help.

So there is an otherkin tea blog, but he doesn't do ghostkin teas on the basis that, well, how do you? With bears, bears eat honey and live in forests, a honey pine-needle tea would be a bear tea. But ghosts...?

This makes a lot of sense to me. And it speaks to the diversity in our community that a tea for a ghost like me - hella Victorian - would be very different from the tea for a forest ghost, a skeleton ghost, a drowned ghost, a grunge ghost and so on.

So - we are going to make our own list of tea for ghosts.

Send me EITHER:

1) What kind of ghost you are

OR

2) What kind of ghost you are AND what sort of tea you associate with that.

If you don't offer a tea idea, I'm going to get together with my tea-drinking friends and come up with some ideas.  If you do offer an idea, I'll link to your blog or credit your name unlinked (or none, if you like to be anon). Messages with a tea idea are preferred, as I'm not a tea expert by any means.

Ghostkin Tea

@haunthearted made a request for what kind of teas you associate with your particular type of ghost and I was just like *Cracks knuckles* Here we go my time to shine because gosh dang it all, I am a tea lover like no other. 

So, I was a ghost from the 1700s, American Revolutionary time period (I died in the war actually), and while I can’t remember anything from my actual life, I do have a lot of teas I associate with that life (as well as other lives. As I said, I’m a big tea fan). 

In the American Colonies, tea was a pretty big deal. It was brought over from Britain, quite obviously, and coffeehouses, gatherings with tea, and even specific tea pot styles were found all over. Tea drinking at home was a warm and happy thing, where family, friends, and even strangers would be invited in to drink a hot beverage. 

However, in the time of the Revolutionary War, the British placed extremely high taxes on tea, which if you are from America, you probably know led to the Boston Tea Party, where a group of angry colonist dumped thousands of pounds of tea into Boston Harbor. Because of these taxes, Colonists would often smuggle in tea or would drink herbal infusions. 

Because of this, I associate herbal teas most with my 1700s ghost life. Things such as lavender, chamomile, mint, rose hip, and jasmine teas are all things that make me feel ghosty. Not only are all of them easily grown in your garden and are therefore something that an American colonist would drink to avoid taxes, but the light, subtle flavors remind me of being a pale floating ghost. The flowers also remind me of the flowers that surrounded my beautiful graveyard, but that is a tad too personal for the purpose of this post. 

If there are anyone else out there who wants me to think of teas that would be good for any kintype, please let me know!! I love the history of tea drinking and love different tea types even more!!
