The Suitors' Ball - Ferdinand doesn't want to get married or have children, but as the heir to an elvish duchy, his father demands it of him. Whilst on an illicit musical outing, he's drawn to a quiet bard named Adesh. But at a ball intended to force a suitor on Ferdinand someone is murdered. Soon Ferdinand and Adesh are unwittingly following a dark trail of death and necromancy, even as they struggle with their differences and attraction to one another.

Victorian Vampire Boyfriend - Orsino Ortiz time travels to the past and ends up in the clutches of Elliot Darling, a man newly made vampire. Despite, (or even because of) his monstrous nature, Orsino finds he has more in common with Darling than he expected, and that the world is darker than he knew.

They are both ongoing - I am a slow writer - but I am still writing them! Both are in their second halves, so expect them to finish sooner rather than later.

it pisses me off when i go to review an IF and i see other reviews that are negative saying it was too short and not worth the money and it will have been a 300k+ word game...... that's longer than most novels. that is epic fanfic length. sure, those words are spread across several routes, but it literally has replayability!!!

people reread an 80k word book they paid $20 for and are perfectly happy even though the story is the same every time - IFs have a unique story on every playthru how are you complaining about this????

my one weird writing hack that I stand by is writing with your eyes closed. It helps remove the mental barrier of seeing the words go down on the page and immediately judging them and makes the writing process feel more fluid and dream-like, like you can write straight from the scene you see in your head. Granted, it does require you to be pretty good at touch typing, but when its a draft a couple typos don't matter.

I highly rec checking out cdlc if you like boarding school stories and text adventures! one thing i was really impressed by was the text to button press ratio. i think its really hard to get the right amount of text chunks per “page” in IF because a lot of the time IF players will have a lower tolerance for how much they want to read before getting to interact with the story compared to a novel. While playing I never once got reading fatigue, and while part of that was the great writing, part of it was also mastery of when to include choices (which is part of good IF writing but i think often its perceived as a separate thing).

i did read An Unauthorised Fan Treatise and man I do love a story that is built for its format.... the blog posts + footnotes + comments are so good and even though I knew that there was more than the shipping stuff going on I did very quickly get invested in the narrative gottie weaves about roban which is apt but also funny to me

Seeds | wip intro

Lindir’s first thought is to ask why this elf was in the garden if it was forbidden, but he bites back the words. Surely, he had a good reason, likely a better one than Lindir’s own. “I...am lost” he admits, “I’ve just arrived here in Imladris, you see, and, well, I was a bit overwhelmed. Very overwhelmed, actually…” He glances away, embarrassed. The elf’s grey eyes softened from the chilly distance they had been appraising him with from before. “Well then,” He offers Lindir a hand, which Lindir tentatively accepts as he is pulled to his feet, “allow me to welcome you to Imladris. I am Elrond Peredhel.”

summary: Lindir leaves his parents cottage for the first time to find his place in Imladris, but when he gets overwhelmed and has to escape the bustle of the last homely house, he meets Elrond in the overgrown remnants of Celebrian's garden. Perhaps this chance meeting is good for both of them in ways they would never suspect.
