Honestly I'm wondering what are your thoughts about an older version of Koobs?
I don’t have the guts to write Kubo any older than maybe thirteen or fourteen, mostly because a. there would be a lack of icons and b. I enjoy writing him as he is, but that doesn’t mean I’ve thought about what he’d become as he grows older.
I have the headcanon that Kubo has always wanted to follow in the footsteps of his father and become a mighty warrior, but he sets aside this pursuit and prioritizes his family first. Even when he’s old enough to begin travelling on his own, he doesn’t until his grandfather has passed away. Afterwards, he leaves the village he was raised in and begins to travel across Japan as a wandering ronin, with a storytelling musician as his sidejob.
Some of this ended up being partially confirmed canon, so I recently learned. The guy who originally had the idea for Kubo (so the film was basically his brainchild,) had wanted there to be an epilogue shot where we see an older Kubo travelling as a ronin, but it never made it into the final product.
