Summary:

‘narcisism’ however @ladyofthelabirinth has only been adapted as a psychological term; rather used to subtract the main traits of said disorder rather than the disorder being used to subtract the word; its actual origins are quite well known - the myth of Narcissus; it’s eventual clinical use does not erase its simple original meaning as ‘self-absorbed’; the word never went through a change of meaning, it just gained another
