Thinking about captain and havers after the war
Like does it work out even if the Captain survives and doesn't become a ghost? Even if they manage to get through all of the external obstacles, the internal ones still exist..
like i could see Captain idealized Havers in his head after missing him and not knowing him for very long for so long, that could become an issue in the relationship.
How does he deal with Anthony being there, not just a photograph or someone he remembers but a real and in the flesh person?
Meanwhile, Havers gets the impression he is distant or not seeing him, but past him, even when they are together.
things Captain would have been better at than being in the army:
Wedding planner
Stressed out community theater director
History teacher who really needs to retire
(alternatively) gym teacher who really needs to retire
Museum (don't know what he would do there though.)
Some kind of coach or sports commentator
Postal worker

I dont think Julian is getting sucked off. I think he will get sucked down. Instead of light and singing there's gonna be a giant hand that reaches out of the ground and pulls him in.
I'm gonna need some high masking autistic people to understand that not everyone is able to mask.
For some people, just being able to talk and socialize with people at all or exist in a public space is a struggle.
Autistic people can be rude without intending to, yes... but everyone else also has to start being kinder to people by explaining things, by not taking things very personally, and being understanding if a person messes up or acts "odd."
What is the point of having Autism acceptance if we still expect autistic people to act allistic in order to be treated with respect?
You cannot pretend to include all autistic people if you treat it like a moral failing the moment someone else has more (or different) social communication problems than you.

Would write fanfiction:
Kitty: yes absolutely if she could.
Alison: yes, she probably has a fanfic account somewhere out there. It hasn't updated in years because she was busy with the house and family stuff.
Thomas: yes, he would. He doesn't know he is writing "fanfiction" because copyright rules in his time were very different.
Would not write fanfiction:
Robin doesn't understand the concept of fanfiction because he existed before copyright.
Pat would not write fanfiction but he would not judge. He would try to read it but wouldn't get it (he's nice about it though.)
Mary: would not write fanfiction or understand the concept of it. is suspicious of the "fiction" part because she thinks hmm.. fictions. fictious. If Kitty was writing fanfic/stories though and explained it though then Mary would join in.
Fanny: also no...but she would enjoy writing fanfic if she could get over the "impropriety" of it.
Humphrey: no but he would like hearing about what someone else was writing. He also existed before modern copyright law.
Has written fanfiction but has no idea:
Julian: no, he considers it to be childish. He also only thinks about explicit fanfics so he's going to make vulgar jokes about it. He has definitely not written what is basically fanfic about opposing politicians... no.
The Captain: all of his battle plans in the Button House Archives book are basically him writing military strategy fanfiction.
sometimes u have to imagine haver's pov because he's probably internally screaming in all of the scenes with him in them.

what i think the ghosts would do as a job if they lived in modern times
(except pat and julian because they are modern and would probably just be doing what they did while they were alive)
1. Thomas was an English major. He started a shitty band in college but they broke up with him but now he works at a bookstore and goes to local open mic nights to share his shitty poetry. He survives cause he asks his rich mom for rent money.
2. Mary either works at the garden department at a supermarket or she works at a daycare. Annie also works with her.
3. Robin works many different part time jobs and he's basically everywhere. The gas station? Yes. The hardware store? Yes. Sometimes he doesn't apply he just shows up. Either that or he is unemployed.
4. Fanny is either an accountant or someone's crotchety old math teacher who is really close to retirement.
5. I dunno why I only picture Humphrey as a pro soccer player. he's still rich, that can also be a job.
6. Captain was in the army but they discharged him because he's old (and bad knees) so now he works in insurance but it isn't what he likes. Havers is a teacher probably and they are married.
7. Kitty is a student teacher who works part time with Mary. She has been a student teacher for a very long time because she can't manage to pass.

the crazy thing about the captain and havers is they were really doomed. completely. just because of the time and place they lived in and met.
The Captain couldn't possibly ask Havers to stay or said anything. Havers wouldn't have agreed anyway, even if he did love the Captain... because they were in a war and this generation of people who all had to step up, if they liked it or not. There was no where they couldve gone to escape that.
They only had those three short months together. However even those brief moments they had together were enough. It's like that thing that's like "the love was there, it didn't save anyone or conquer all. but it was there." eeeeee
so you know how the Captain was born in 1900 and only reached the front right when ww1 armistice happened
but I never see it acknowledged, wouldn't he also have been around for the 1918 influenza pandemic? like all of that happening. armistice happens on November 11 1918, he reaches the front by then. The deadly second wave happened between late August and September 1918 then fades in December... he would've been like right in there, right?

some ghosts headcanons but mostly about food... but when they were alive because they are ghosts and cant eat ofc
The Captain will eat almost anything and pretend he enjoys it (even if he obviously does not like it.) He also had really specific food sensitivities as a kid, but had to learn to ignore them.
Robin will eat anything and enjoy it 100% genuinely.., even things he probably shouldn't eat.
Mary has a sweet tooth and the 17th century regular person version of this is puddings, fruit buns, and syllabubs. Annie is different, she likes sour stuff.
Kitty also has a sweet tooth. She likes the frosting on a cake more than the cake. Also she would eat raw cookie dough if she could.
Thomas is a bread and cheese kind of guy so he was made fun of for eating like a mouse.
If Humphrey lived today he would love grilling and BBQ I don't know why
I think Fanny's tastes are actually really simple and down to earth. She just wants some soup and biscuits. Not a fan of sweets or extremely sour things. She likes pickles but would never admit it out loud because she thinks that's improper.
Pat loves hot dogs man I don't have anything else to say.
Julian makes really annoying sounds while eating and he's completely obnoxious about it.
