Sun Kil Moon - Ghosts of the Great Highway (2003). Always wanted to own this on vinyl and finally it has reissued on double vinyl this year. Someone once told me no matter what the price this album is worth it just for that one song ‘Carry Me Ohio’. Well I disagree, that one song is just beautiful, no disagreement there. But this album as a whole stands out as a true masterpiece. You must experience the album as a whole to really get into it. This reissue is well made and in good quality. Sun Kil Moon - Ghosts of the Great Highway . My favorite record by everyone’s “favorite” asshole. I haven’t seen any news of Mark Kozelek in a while. Maybe he isn’t much of an asshole anymore. Just a grumpy old man, perhaps? I don’t know. And for the purposes of telling you about this record, it’s not that important, even though I have a REALLY hard time separating art from the artist. . For the past year or so, I’ve been trying to compile a 100-song playlist of my favorite songs from my favorite albums ever. One song per album. It’s impossible. My musical moods keep changing. I keep revising my personal music history. Favorite artists keep becoming insufferable pricks (wassup Morrissey!)... But one song that would survive these dynamic changes is “Carry Me, Ohio”, the best song on this album. The big problem is that it’s not on Spotify!
