R.E.M. - The Best of R.E.M. - In Time 1988 - 2003⁠ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠ @rem #rem #craftrecordings #michaelstipe #athensGA #georgia⁠ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠ I've held onto this submission for a little longer than normal only because I adore R.E.M. and every time I listen to anything from Automatic for the People, I get super emotional and weird. Like a lot of people, I grew up with their earliest albums and inadvertently made them the soundtrack to some of the more "emo" and moody times in my childhood. Automatic for the People ended up being the soundtrack to the heaviest and hardest time of my life when I lost my mother the year I turned 20. It's one of my favorite albums of all time but so emotionally evocative I have trouble going back to it at times. This compilation of the "best of" R.E.M. tracks originally came out in 2003 and in my opinion covered the greatest segment of their ~30 year arc. Some people split off from the crowd when Monster and New Adventures in Hi-Fi came out, but I think you'll see that those albums still fit beautifully in the canon of the golden era of R.E.M. as they're sequenced pretty perfectly among the other great singles this band ever wrote. This is reissued for the first time since 2003 and it's truly a beautiful piece to own if you care at all about this band.
