octane asked right away, a glint of HOPE in his voice that he didn't want to make so obvious. upon realizing how desperate that question sounded, though, he quickly cleared his throat. thank god he still wore all his facial gear on these apex games events, so mirage wouldn't be able to see the redness that slowly began taking over his face.

" i mean-- wow. really? eso es ridículo. totally best friend goals, though. "

NICE SAVE, he praised himself internally. he held up his fist, offering it to mirage beside him for a fistbump.

There’s no response at first as Crypto fixes his eyes on Mirage’s face. His expression shifts between confusion and bemusement, and he sounds especially done when he finally says, “Mirage. I’ve had waffles before.”

as fun as it was to have mirage on your own squad, that opinion takes a drastic turn for octane the moment he’s encountered with mirage on an ENEMY team. the speedster struggled telling the clones apart and usually only realized they were holograms once he emptied a mag in their backs--  and this time was no different.

octane gets insanely competitive throughout the games. no matter how close one may be with him, he’d even put a bullet between ajay’s eyes and execute her if that meant a WIN for him. he was mostly just light-hearted about this because he knew about the respawn chambers and more-or-less understood the process. what mattered is that no one could really DIE in the ring. and that’s what he relied on when he shot mirage right in the face... only for him to disappear into thin air.

a frustrated grunt erupted from octane as he reloaded his wingman, before his attention was grabbed by yet another mirage again. this time he immediately approached him, the grip on his gun tight.

“ sorry, BRO, i dunno if you remember, but this is a bloodsport. headshots count MORE. “,

the daredevil almost snarls as he sends another bullet after this version of mirage, this time aiming for the shoulder instead to seem a little less predictable in case he tried to dodge.

when the question was prompted to him, octane even cut mirage off at the end a little, blurting out an overly eager and excited ' YES! ' before he even knew what mirage wanted to do in the first place.

but that's the whole fun of it, right? and besides, this was just MIRAGE. he lo-- liked the guy, yeah, but when he came up with a stupid plan, octane had always been the one to top that. he was like a more mild, SLOW version of the speedster. but definitely not as unhinged... unless mirage was able to change that impression.

“Has it truly been that long?”

They blink in surprise and lean forwards as if to glance at Mirage’s watch for themselves. Truth be told Bloodhound hadn’t noticed the hours passing by but they flowed past like water regardless. Talking to one such as Mirage is easy, they didn’t always have to contribute too much as he usually supplies most of the conversation but this time they found themselves participating more. It was nice, they have to admit.

“I like to talk well enough, it just depends on the company that I keep and the subject matter at hand,” they nod at him, something warm colouring their voice from behind their respirator’s modulation. “If I kept you from something that you need to do I apologize. You have always seemed to be a busy man.”

  “Give her credit. She’s getting her answers,” A shrug falls from Bangalore as she stands shoulder to shoulder with Mirage. It’s not too often she’s found herself staying this late at his shabby bar, but it’s been a long day, too damn long, and now, the evening entertainment as it were, has become something serious. 

   “Might not be the most poetic but sometimes, ya just gotta be straight up.”
