Nine Games I Love

Thanks for the tag, @redaresss. ♥ I've actually done something similar before (it was 25 games back in October), but narrowing it down to nine was a neat challenge.

I decided to limit myself to one entry per franchise for this one, otherwise it'd probably be mostly Sonic and Dragon Age games.

And there are definitely franchises not represented here that I still love. This is by no means exhaustive. (Neither is my 25-count post, but I still think that one is worth checking out too.)

Oiwa-san + Kuchisake-Onna = Victim 16

This image in the SH4 OST is a final boss battle scene depicted as a (Buddhist) Hell Scroll in the style of an ukiyo-e print of the famous ghost Oiwa-san.

Oiwa-san is characterized by her long hair and rotting eye, and Sadako from "The Ring" is said to be an homage to her.

The ghost Cynthia is believed to be influenced by Sadako, so ther's a double layer of influence here.

Furthermore, Kuchisake-onna, a Japanese urban legend, reveals her jagged teeth when she opens her slit mouth.

Monsters based on this appear in "Ghostwire: Tokyo," and it looks something like this.

The concept art for Cynthia also somewhat resembles this, so she was probably influenced by Kuchisake-onna as well.

By the way, maybe because Murakoshi-san, the director of SH4, also worked on "Ghostwire: Tokyo," Room 302 appears, and the apartment name is "Fog Hill (Kirigaoka)." There's also the UFO ending.
