I'm guessing you can't go into too much detail without revealing spoilers, but is there any Maz information you can yap about?

The spoiler part is unfortunately true XD he's the main villain of the series, so the less information I reveal about him now the better, but I'm sure there are a couple things I can talk about...

For one, he was...influential on someone who appeared briefly in the earliest chapters

I think this art of him is the most plot-relevant info I can share👀 so do with that what you will

Some other info:

He has dermatillomania and scratches at his arms and neck especially, which is the main reason he has those bandages since he normally wouldn't need them

He also won't be around much for the first book, but you will see his influence from time to time 👀

So in the previous post, I talked about Flint and Steel dragons, but focused more on Steel ones.

So, Flint Dragons lore! They look mostly human, with the exception of usually being a bit taller than average once they reach adulthood and having horns and a tail. The horns/tail colour changes depending on the individual, and usually is a similar shade to their hair.

The shape of the tail can change a lot, from small and thin to more like a dragon's tail, but it's always scaly. It also grows back like a lizard's tail if it's cut off. (Yes they can also detach them).

Speaking of detaching, most Flint dragons do if they want to blend in more. It's also common to file down horns to hide them. There are negative superstitions about them in a lot of areas, mostly coming from a misconception about them as a species. While steel dragons are more of a well-known folklore, because Flint dragons look much more like humans a lot of people assume they're some kind of demon. On the peninsula where the story takes place, most people would be a little wary of them, but not overtly aggressive.

The ability to breathe fire is a huge part of why they're so powerful. The have a lot of control over the flame, from breathing it across a larger distance to a concentrated and extremely hot burst up close. It takes energy so they can't do it forever, and sometimes it can take a little while to warm up, but they're deadly in a fight.

As far as Bard is concerned, I can't say a ton because he actually shows up fairly early in the story. There'll be a reference to him very soon as well 👀

But some cryptic lore in the meantime: he used to work for Rhoringdall, but at a certain point he chose between them and a person he trusted. He's been living quietly for many years now, and has no intention of changing that...

Hehe I would never turn down a chance to yap about Sephria >:) her design is one of my favourites, so you're getting an essay XD

Some species lore: Sephria's species is called the Ra'bac, they're essentially a beetle-person. They're usually slightly taller than humans (Sephria is 186cm), and have 4 arms, 4 wings, elytra, antennae, ear holes instead of ears, and very dark skin with a green tint. The wings and anettae colour vary like eye colour, most of the time they're some form of blue-green.

Sometimes though, their features (like wings, eyes, hair, skin) can be gold or have gold patches, and they consider those people to be closer to their goddess. Because of that, people with those features tend to have higher expectations of them / more responsibilities when it comes to the well-being of the clan.

Sephria having golden wings / partially golden hair is the reason she was trained to be a strong fighter, and why she's chosen to get involved later in the story. There are some more details there, but that would get into spoilers XD

Anyway, Sephria in particular takes her responsibilities VERY seriously, and can come off as rude/aloof. She does have some anger issues (with valid reasoning behind it), so she can be a little "violence is the solution", but her discipline helps keep it in check. The Ra-bac are from the eastern-most part of Tobryna, so she's met both Artlem and Shole a couple times in the past. (Both if them are also from Tobryna, which is a big place, but Artlem's clan are basically nomads and have good relationships with all the other clans)

Here are some concept sketches from awhile back for different types of clothes the Ra'bac could wear, it's usually attached around the neck or arms because their wings get in the way.

Oh yeah, cursed fact: like some bugs/animals, the Ra-bac can survive in a zombie-like state for a while without their head.

As far as when she shows up in the story...I'm going to say about halfway. So unfortunately it'll still be a little bit😅 Right now I'd say we're a bit less than 1/4 of the way through. I'm trying to find ways to get the chapter out faster while still looking a way I'm happy with because I really want to get things moving...but it's hard T_T
