The ghouls giving copia some love before they have to leave for tour
I seem to have an inability to write fluff without making it a little angsty... Sorry about that.
Copia wasn't happy. Anyone with working eyes and half a brain could tell you that just from looking at him. He didn't want to be Frater Imperator. He didn't want to step away from the limelight. But more than anything, he didn't want to send his ghouls off with someone he hadn't even had the displeasure of meeting. And his ghouls could tell from the way he's kept them close while he prepared to be transferred.
As the day of his and the ghouls departures got closer, Copia seemed to talk less. His room and office were bare of everything except the essentials and most days he could be found just staring off into space.
So, it came as no surprise to anyone when the pack all but kidnapped Copia into the den.
"They'll be just fine with us." Cumulus spoke softly to Copia as he watched Dew and Mountain fight over who would play against him in Mario kart.
Cumulus and Swiss had been informed that as soon as the new Papa was able to summon his own ghouls, they would be sent back to the Mission to assist Frater Imperator. It broke their hearts, knowing that they would be separated from their pack soon, but they knew they would have Sunshine and Aether and each other. Not to mention their beloved papa.
"That's not what I'm worried about." Copia's eyes drifted over the pack of ghouls he'd grown close to over the last few years. "I... I don't know if I'll be okay without them."
Copia's voice broke at the confession. He wasn't used to being so vulnerable but being hidden in the ghouls den, deep within the bowls of the mission, surrounded by what he considered family, he felt safe to let out everything that had been building up over the past few weeks.
"You're all the family I have left." He admitted, turning his teary eyes to Cumulus, who pulled him close. "I know you and Swiss will be back sooner rather than later but..."
"It won't be the same." Swiss piped up.
By this point the other ghouls had picked up on Copia's distress and were moving closer to comfort him.
"The tour will be over before you know it." Aurora rested her head on Copia's shoulder as she looped her arms around him.
"And we'll call you every day!" Phantom had his chin on Copia's knee, his own tears filling his eyes.
Copia forced a smile. He didn't want his ghouls upset on his behalf, even though it warmed his heart to know they cared so deeply for him.
Dew's face came into view as he reclined into Copia's lap and looking around he realized that the whole pack was laying on him or near him in some way. Mountain was resting his chin on the top of his head, Aurora and Cumulus were snuggled up on either side of him, Phantom, Swiss, and Cirrus were by his legs, and Dew and Rain were laying over Aurora and Cumulus's laps to rest their heads in his. He wasn't quite sure who it started from but soon enough deep purrs and chirps filled the room.
Copia couldn't hold in his laughter at the absurdity of it all, feeling like he was surrounded by 8 giant cats. It was probably the first time he'd laughed since that finale concert.
The ghouls shot each other pleased glances, finally feeling like they were getting through to their Papa.
"Okay okay, I'm done with crying and the moping and the bleh," Copia makes a vague gesture to his face.
Rain grabs Copia's cheeks, squishing them between his palms as he pulls him down enough to plant kisses on his forehead. This set off another chain reaction and Copia giggled as his face, neck and hands were covered his gentle, lovely kisses. It only stopped when Copia yelped and pushed Swiss over with his foot because the multi-ghoul had tried to sink his fangs into his Papa's knee.
"Bity little bugger." Dew huffs.
"Well, you usually like it when I bite you." Swiss wiggles his brows suggestive at the fire ghoul and earns himself another shove.
Copia sighs, finally feeling a contentness fill him. It would take a while to truly be okay with how things turned out but he somehow felt better in this moment, knowing how much his ghouls love him.
"Just promise you'll do your best and come back safe and sound i miei tesori." Copia sighs as he pats Phantom and Cirrus on the head.
"I'm the most careful ghoul I know." Dew boasts as he rolls onto his stomach. "So, don't worry."
Copia giggles again as he reclines farther into the couch, enjoying his ghouls presents. It may be different and difficult but he was sure that he could get through all this change...
(several months later: Copia gets a call from Mountain and picks it with confusion seeing as this wasn't the usual time his ghouls called him.
Just outside his office doors, Copia's assistants jump when they hear him yell.
"What do you mean he broke his leg in two spots?!")
