Liz Garvey (Babylon): Because she’s simultaneously brilliant, complicated and unpredictable; major kudos to Brit Marling, Jesse Armstrong and Sam Bain for not shying away from the messy side of Liz’s character.

Harriet Pringle (Fortunes of War): First off, she’s played by Emma Thompson in the series (always a plus) and she’s probably the lone and sane voice piercing through the chaos of a world at war. She deserves a prize, too, for having to deal with her well-meaning but maddeningly absentminded - and often obtuse - husband, Guy.

Beatrice (Much Ado About Nothing): Her razor-sharp wit is the stuff of legend and when she says she would eat someone’s heart in the marketplace, you better believe it. Her putdowns of Benedick also give me life.

Catherine Cawood (Happy Valley): Though she’s tough as nails and takes no shit from anyone, Sarah Lancashire’s embattled police sergeant always balances it out with a warm, sympathetic heart. Oh, and the fact that her nickname is “Miss Trunchbull” makes me smile every time.

Diana Prince (Wonder Woman): Loved Gal Gadot’s portrayal of her in the film last year (the first time I’ve seen anything Wonder Woman-related); the mixture of naivety, strength and emphathy she has is perfect.

Caroline Lessing (Quacks): Watching Caroline being sick to death of the misogyny around her and trying to break the Victorian restrictions imposed on her is a joy to behold.

Anne Elliot (Persuasion): My favourite Austen heroine and like Harriet Pringle, a much-needed embodiment of sanity and good sense in a materialistic, cynical society.

Evie Frye (Assassin’s Creed Syndicate): I adored playing as her in ACS and come on, she’s basically a kickass Victorian steampunk Assassin who still has time to have a sweet romance with an Indian Assassin...can one ask for more?

Edith Hunter (The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp): Deborah Kerr might have played three different “reincarnations” of Edith in the film, but the “original” Edith is just wonderful. My favourite scene has got to be in the Berlin cafe where she puts Clive Candy firmly in his place: ‘Good manners are important.’/‘Did you learn that in South Africa, Mr Candy?’ XD

Countess Sofia Belinskaya (The White Countess): I always have a soft spot in my heart for the down-at-heel but ever persevering Countess who just wants to support her daughter, but also isn’t afraid of telling horrible people to ‘kindly go to hell’.

5) Most popular fic this year

heart’s desire, with 19 kudos and 9 bookmarks. It was my first fic for the fandom, so I was really surprised.  

12) Favourite character to write about this year

I’ve enjoyed writing, like, nice people (who are still morally suspect and divisive, but they’re well-meaning and pleasant about it.) I tend to write characters along the lines of Liz and Finn, or outright amoral trolls, so it’s been a fun mental exercise. Specific characters: my ‘canon’ Imperial Agent, Niayes; the Jovial Contrarian; Sinning Jenny. 

24) Favourite fic you read this year

I’m always excited when @almaviva90​‘s “Not For Public Circulation”  updates! Combustion is another favourite of mine. I also loved Opposable by BasilDisco, which hasn’t updated since January; in October, the author said they would continue it, but we’ll see. :p (No pressure, if they happen to be lurking!)

harvest - what fictional character do you most identify with? Why?

I... don’t? I’ve read so many stories and let so many characters through me, I can’t say where their influence begin or end. I am a patchwork of characters.

cranberry - what’s one physical feature that you get complimented on?

I don’t! There’s no part of me that’s especially striking, I guess. Also, as a whole, if I change my hair or put my contacts on, or wear a skirt when they only have seen me in jeans... no one recognises me. I can walk right beside them. So I guess I am making an (un)impression as a whole.

2. Favorite color when you were younger, and now?

Earthy greens have always been my thing -- though I had a weird mint green phase as a kid. :D

18. Comfort book?

The Lord of the Rings and Ronia the Robber’s Daughter -- though sometimes I just go back to some of my favourite urban fantasy books when I’m stressed.

39. Favorite fashion fad that went away?

Well, grunge is kinda in right now, I guess? Is it still? If not, I’ll say grunge. :D Flannel shirts, floral dresses and combat boots? Red lipstick and messy hair? Totally my thing. *grin*
