“D’you have to say my name like that?”

“Like what?” Thomas looked up from the lighting of his pipeto the dark of Ephraim’s eyes. Ephraim was drunk, but so was Thomas though not nearly to the same degree. A common occurrence since their stranding andThomas had begun to realize that there were probably reasons more deep toEphraim’s original abstention than it being in the rules.

“Y’know exactly how you say it. Stop it.”

“If I recall you’re th’ one which asked t’ be referred withhis name.”

Thomas wasn’t looking to start another spat, or maybe hewas. It was hard to tell with him, for as much as he hated gaining Ephraim’sire, he certainly loved to stoke it. He poked at the embers with his words,finding which ones would roar his fiery temper to life again. It was exciting,dangerous, like a wayward blaze.

“I’m regrettin’ asking now. You make me regret a lot ofthings.” Ephraim’s jaw rocked side to side, grinding tooth against tooth in ahard way that made Thomas’ brow quirk.

“Now there be no need fer hostilities.” Thomas puffed insuccession and the pipe smoked accordingly, “T’was only doin’ as you requested.Bit late t’go back to formalities now, don’tcha think, Ephraim?”

Thomas had a way of speaking, he retained control with it.Twisted things, situations, happenings, to ensure that he kept the upper handand kept it away from Ephraim. It wasn’t difficult, all things considered.Ephraim argued, but was put down easily. Even now, starting a fight, Ephraimlooked at Thomas with the dumb, angry look he always did when Thomas saidsomething that forced him to think.

“Maybe’s time for you t’ go t’ bed, lad. Much t’ do asalways. You’ve got a lot t’ catch up on.”

Ephraim’s jaw rocked again, something roiling on his tongue,something hateful and spiteful. But he was drunk, and tired, and not feelingbrave.

“Aye, sir.”

francis crozier and/or solomon tozer!

Francis Crozier

How I feel about this character: Captain Dad!! But in all seriousness, it’s incredible to watch the journey of this man as he learns to be a leader, friend, and mentor to his crew in the worst possible of scenarios. The kindness and self-sacrifice that he learns by the end of the show (and still being unable to save anyone) is painfully tragic, but makes me love him all the more.

Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character:  I know he and Fitzjames are popular, but I don’t really read or write fitzier fic lol

I enjoy Crozier/Jopson, but man my feelings about that pairing are a mixed bag, given their shared history as well as the power dynamics of their ranks

My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: He and Jopson 100% Be it platonic, familial, or romantic, I really love their relationship. I love the slightly joking manner they have with each, the nonverbal communication, the devotion and loyalty from Jopson balanced by Crozier’s appreciation and respect. I get real emo about these two

My unpopular opinion about this character: I don’t think I have one? I think that he can be particularly cruel, pre-rehabilitation, but I don’t think I’m an outlier for that lol

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I would have really liked a scene between Crozier and Little where they reconcile some of what happened pre-Carnivale because their relationship seemed vastly improved by Terror Camp and I like to think that Crozier apologized to Little for having abused his position as badly as he did (with the whiskey runs and all)

Favorite friendship for this character: sorry blanky Crozier and Ross BFFS

My crossover ship: don’t have one lol

Solomon Tozer

How I feel about this character: a lot, and I mean a LOT. Tozer is a slowburn when it comes to his tragedy and my understanding of it as a spectator, but I really relate to Tozer because he is a genuinely good man, with good intentions and a decent heart who lands himself on this path of bad decisions and stubbornness that gets him roped up with Hickey and dying this horrible death

Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: with Edward Little, all the way

My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: I like some of the brief interactions we see him have with characters such as Sir John, Heather, Armitage, Hartnell. He had a warmth with the other men, even when he was being crabby about something. 

My unpopular opinion about this character: I don’t get/agree with the himbo thing??? I know it’s all joking, but I genuinely don’t think he’s dumb. I don’t think anyone who got manipulated by Hickey was dumb, for that matter

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: just more, as anyone would say with a favorite minor character lol I would have liked more interactions between Tozer and Crozier though if I had to narrow it down

Favorite friendship for this character: he and Heather 😭

You my friend have truly blessed me with this ask (and also I love your fic post today)

When I started shipping them: It wasn’t until I really got into the history behind the terror, doing my own reading and research that I fell in love with the pairing. Just two rowdy boys who had so many adventures together and developed a bond over years of hardships and shenanigans 

My thoughts: Love them. Love the dynamic of them both together. Really wished the show illustrated them together more but lol what can you do (that’s what fanfiction is for)

What makes me happy about them: I just love them. The idea they both can be the one who gets into trouble/hurts themselves and the other be the one who’s mad and protective about it. I’m truly just a sucker for a pair of best friends who become lovers

What makes me sad about them: the inherent tragedy of dying together in the arctic and Dundy following James to the ends of the earth

Things done in fanfic that annoys me: For specifically fitzconte, there’s not a ton of fanfics out there (I get it, fitzier is popular). So I take everything I can get and truly love and cherish anyone who writes them. I’m not picky

Things I look for in fanfic: tenderness, friendship, just a capturing on their dynamic

My wishlist: More? 

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: For James I tend to ship him with Crozier otherwise, and for Henry I like him with Des Voeux (even if he is a bastard, they have a dynamic don’t @ me), Jopson, and now Hodgson some

My happily ever after for them: I waiver back and forth on this. Part of me believes they would be happy to run off and adventure together for the rest of their lives and the other half of me thinks that James and Henry would want to settle down, perhaps in Canada along with Henry’s family. Just have a homestead, plot of land, maybe just do what they love until they grow old and die besides one another

@castielrisingabove is absolutely phenomenal. The best of the best. She’s an amazing writer (Never Give All the Heart is my FAVORITE fic, no joke), she comes up with incredible AUs all the time, and she’s also so damn funny. She’ll never get enough love and attention, I swear.

@hhoneycas is so cute. So sweet. I love her writing so much (her pinefest, Men’s Eight, is absolutely adorable, not to mention a great representation of Seattle), and she’s also such a lovely person in general. This fandom is lucky to have her. <3
