Let's say Simon is 19, Valentinus is 31, Paracelsus is 38 and stopped aging at 35. As I like to write him, he keeps himself young by balancing the petrification disease perfectly between its petrifying expression and its monstrous expression, so it all cancels out but slightly in favor of being revitalizing. He doesn't have it fine-tuned just 3 years in, & it's giving him some face rocks at the moment, but it more or less works.

Simon isn't important yet, & he's trying to catch the leader's notice by stuff like volunteering to row the boat. Simon's sense of not being important never quite went away. Even as he used his ability to read minds to earn respect from Valentinus over time, until he became his right hand man
