Something miraculous happened in my hometown yesterday. For quite some time I’ve been plotting with my local arts council to bring the extraordinary art collective @friendswithyou to Shreveport Louisiana. And yesterday our downtown was transformed into a happy surrealist daydream. The ordinary brick and mortar streets were suddenly ruled by helium filled behemoths of pure joy and fancy. A parade began, a new park was opened, and and several thousand smiles ensued. Children,parents, mayors, cops, birds, and squirrels could barely believe what they were seeing. For one delirious day our sky was filled with Rainbow Kings and and other inflated potentates of friendship. Thank you Sam and Tury and all your crew for inspiring lots of lives today. Your art has an amazing power to change, heal and bring joy. It’s swell to be friends with you. Rainbow City will be blowing minds and warming hearts in downtown Shreveport for the next month.
