So I was thinking about getting a Runescape tattoo and thought that the Rune Essence Mine incantation could be a fun idea. I was wondering if it had any real life meaning that would make me not want to get it tattooed. The RuneScape wikis don’t have any translation listed so I decided to dive deeper on my own.

The phrase “Senventior Disthine Molenko” wasn’t coming up on translations so I decided to pick it apart word by word.

Senventior on its own was fairly easy, being a direct translation in Haitian Creole to someone who has lived past 100

Disthine was a little trickier, but fiddling with my searches indicated that it comes from Disthene, a blue-grey crystal that grows in columns and is directionally hard

Molenko was the hardest to find, but looking it up on surname indexes led me to find it is a truncation of “Yarmolenko” which means people who have come from a city in Western Ukraine

And putting it together

This incantation fits well because the Rune essence was created thousands of years ago by the god Guthix during the first age of Gielior. It grows in tall grey pillars that can be easily cut into from by miners. The rune essence is located in a mine far into the freezing north where it is only accessible by teleportation.
