I know there’s still some issues with commenting on stories that are maybe older or not as popular but something that might make it easier is if you just use a GIF. If you don’t have the words to say anything, just find something that will help you get your meaning across even if it’s something as simple as an applause or a thumbs up. Literally comment anything. I’ve seen authors say that they’ll even accept emojis and emoticons. 

Just say something~ Here’s a quick little tutorial on how I comment with GIFs.

I usually use Tumblr web version. Hard press the picture and click copy. Then I go to ao3 and open a new work. When you go to the rich text side, you’ll see that there’s a little picture option. You paste there and save and the pic will come up then you go to the HTML side, copy that and paste it in the comment. 

Long press on the pic until the option to copy comes up. Don’t choose copy photo.

Then go to ao3 and choose a new work
