There is a lovely lady standing in her bedroom. Who is she, I mean you? Today is the day you will be named, and you get the feeling that……oh, your name is Casey Oliver you say, and today is very special? I guess you’re very excited then. You have many interests including reading ‘B00KS’. You also like ARCHITECTURE, and are so daum good, you made a BOOK FORTRESS. You also like to stay up late and take a lot of SUGAR-PACKED ICE TEA to keep you awake, and you love to make CRAFTS, even though you have enough random shit. Also, you love to read about mythical creatures such as GRYPHONS, GODROCKS, and WITCHES. You pick up your backpack and search through all the things. You always keep a history, fantasy, and biology book, an EXTRA SWEATER (you love the ones that are like 5 times your actual size), a backup pair of earbuds, and a purple cat plushie WHEN YOU NEED TO KAWAII. You also keep a ton of COOKIES for when you are too lazy to get up and get food. You are very excited because a new game called SBURB is coming out today, and it’s an immersive game that you have been excited about for week now.
Ok, let’s be honest, its 12 pm and you are still in bed. In fact, you are sound asleep, snoring up a storm.
You wake up to the sound of multiple alerts from your cell phone across your book-scattered room. Slowly, you scramble out of bed, and slip on your lamb slippers, and put on a black and yellow sweater, because geez is it cold up here.
As you shuffle across your room, you realize how late it is, then you start to actually walk to your dresser to pick something out for the day. After about 5 minutes, you decide on a turquoise blue sweater, cargo shorts, and a pair of yellow high-tops with pink laces with a cyan cat on the side.
You drowsily walk down the stairs to your living room/kitchen. Once you make it down, you look around your superbly cleaned house, man your aunt cleans too much. As you look around the room, you see the multiple pictures of yourself in random places. There is one where you are in the park, your auntie pushing you on the swingset.
Strategically, you walk to the kitchen, trying not to run into your Auntie. You love her to death, but she can be a bit annoying and nit-picky. As you think you are safe, you see a shadow, and with nothing within range to hide by, you are screwed. You try not to mind her that much as you try to get some of your favorite cereal, but sadly that fails and you have to mind her endless bugging about your hair and "totally radical" fashion choice. So, you stand in your kitchen, listening to your Auntie’s constant bickering, nibbling on your cereal.
You are not able to run, you have to stay in her presence, or she will chase you. Once she’s run out of things to talk about, which doesn’t take too long, about a half an hour,(yes apparently that is short)you run back to your room, trying not to spill the rest of the cereal. After you close the door, you admire your ‘neat’ room. A very quaint and cozy corner of your room filled with multiple colors and sizes of pillows and blankets, with the usual scattered book lying around is where you usually hang out. And your hunk of technology, your laptop covered with various stickers and other odds and ends you could tape on, is always on you AT ALL COSTS.
Actually, you have it in your flashcard sylladex. You captchalogue your cereal and put in a question, which you have to answer later to get it back. You put in the obvious question: Yes or no, do light years measure time, and at the same time answer another question to receive your laptop. Once you are on, you sit down and finally answer your chums.
====> Answer Chums.
((elisa here. i fixed your formatting. i think maybe copy pasting from word might fuck up the format for this stuff, which does not work the same way as tumblr formatting))
You're messing with the order! YOU DON'T GO MESSING WITH THE ORDER! Anyways, this was the planned seventh, but here you go:
A young man stands in his bedroom. It just so happens that today is of no particular significance to him whatsoever, although he concedes that it might prove differently later on. He glances at some old envelopes on his desk, addressed to one Erik Ollamh, and while he's at it, he glances around the rest of his room. While he does so, the narrator is promptly sacked f- Hey!
Your name is ERIK. As you gaze around your room you see a large number of BOARD GAMES perched on various flat surfaces, sometimes precariously. Several FLAGS adorn your walls, from various countries and time periods. Atop a cluttered wardrobe sits a LAPTOP COMPUTER, and several GAME DISKS are lying around it. An ANALOG CLOCK stares at you from above the doorframe, informing you that it is 6:27 AM. You resolve to start up the COMPUTER and head off in search of BREAKFAST.
You enter the KITCHEN and find not only a freshly toasted BAGEL and SCRAMBLED EGGS awaiting you, but a half-set STRATEGO board as well. Your FATHER is sat on the other side of the table, and gestures toward a seat. You set up the pieces and begin the game, eating as you go. You are mostly outmatched, as always, but you manage to take his MARSHAL with your SPY. You were always good at that. He still slips a ROGUE MINER through your defenses, but it was close. After the BREAKFAST and CONTEST you go back to your room and collect your COMPUTER to see the happenings of the day, as well as check PESTERCHUM. Your once-meager CHUMROLL has ballooned rather drastically lately, as you added in some folks with whom you are supposed to play a VIDEO GAME; speaking of which, said game will be in your grasp tomorrow, if all goes as planned.
Regrettably, you seem to be the only one of your pals on at the moment. Presumably because you are at least five hours ahead of most of them. So instead you open up the CHESS game that came with the COMPUTER, and set the difficulty to EASY. After several games you have found yourself, once again, completely and utterly thrashed on the checkered field, although CHECKERS is a game that you generally do passably in. You decide to give your embarrasing battle with a simulated beginner-level tactician a rest and log onto STRATEGO to go completely and utterly thrash a hapless opponent.
After you ran your GENERAL into one of his COLONELS, your MARSHAL into his GENERAL, a CAPTAIN into his SPY, and your SPY into his MARSHAL, he surrendered. Just as well, you were only going to wage a campaign of erosion against any piece that moved. You think you've spent enough time on your COMPUTER for one sitting, and decide to go for a short WALK. You gaze down at your rust red T-SHIRT and your plaid SHORTS, and decide to forgo a JACKET. You head to the door, tell your FATHER that you'll be back in a bit, and open it to a deluge of light from OUTSIDE.
It is BRISK, but that was always how you liked it. You stretch out your legs and decide to head to the top of a nearby HILL. As you walk, several disparate THOUGHTS align in your HEAD as you think about various concerns of yours. You gaze back towards your house and sigh. A particularly CHILL BREEZE blows by and you feel your BLOOD cool. Oh well, it isn't a very long time before you reach the top of the HILL and the TELESCOPE positioned upon it. You take a quick gaze moonward, but you have no luck finding what you were looking for. You doubt it would even be visible on this thin sliver of a WANING CRESCENT at night, much less in bright daylight. You decide to revisit this source of MACABRE INTEREST later at night, and feel momentarily thankful for the low amounts of LIGHT POLLUTION in your area. Of course, that won't matter at all if it decides to RAIN tonight, and you are unsure of whether it will or not.
You briefly mill on how you've been driven to learn a little ASTRONOMY and METEOROLOGY because of what you'd been shown a few months before, but these THOUGHTS are quickly flushed out by your CONTEMPLATIONS of what you've been told on the subject, which was very ELUCIDATING, if it can be TRUSTED. You suppose that you will find out either way very soon, this last THOUGHT falling in line with the others as you WALK back home, a trail of METAPHORICAL MENTAL DUCKS behind you in a row.
--Mod K, henceforth Erik, King of Overly Long Sentences.
ok so we all recently admitted to one another that we dont really know what we're doing at all whatsoever (what did we make this for) and i think it's about time we threw the baby bird out of the nest and told it to fly, you little motherfucker, fly. yes, this is exactly what i'm doing right now.
we all had drafts like this btw that were meant to happen the day before the session and mine was supposed to be released third but given my intents and purposes i've decided to just fuck that shit. and since i've introduced my character, from this point on call me elisa, thank you very much.
-Elisa
So there's this pretty cool dude, ok? Alright so she's technically a girl but like who cares. Girls can be called dude too and you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who gave a damn. Whatever. But yeah. There's this girl who's also a pretty cool dude. Or. She guesses she might be, depending on like her mood and shit. She likes to imagine herself as being a smooth as fuck motherfucker, though perhaps suitably distant. Anyway, she's sitting around being all chill, like cool dudes are known to do sometimes. Maybe shuffling around a bit every so often for no reason in particular. A cool girl like this probably has a really cool name and whatnot. Or at least a name that doesn't sound like her uncle was high on something when he first thought of it. Not that her uncle would actually BE high on something, he stays away from drugs and restrains the drinking to wine or the odd beer every once in a while on special occasions. Unless it's like the sacramental wine or something, which is naturally given a free pass. Maybe just an awkward-sounding name that makes you wonder why he'd pick something like that at worst. Either way, she probably wouldn't just tell you what it was if you asked. She'd be way too aloof for that. And busy for that matter. Busy trying to listen to an overly-long homily that she'll probably forget what was being said within about 15 minutes anyway not to say she shouldn't at least try paying attention.
You could always try to guess her name. Preferably at a better time than in the middle of a mass wherein she is actually free to dick around. Not like you could give her a bunch of especially stupid commands at this point or anything. Here, let's skip to a couple hours later at which point trying to introduce her at that particular moment is considerably less of a stupid dumb idea. (Tip: read that with no vitriol whatsoever, the actual words should carry enough sarcasm in themselves.)
Okay, now let's try to guess this bitch's name and try to be her. There. Now give us a name.
>Hipster Flowsti_
She pulls the floating meta placronym down to arm level with the handle of an umbrella before you can finish typing, grabs the placronym in question, takes a marker, writes something, and then shoves the placronym into your screen hard enough to leave a medium-sized crack in it, because if you expected her to actually let you pull off this sort of bullshit you are probably an imbecile. Don't think she didn't know you'd try it. That's what everyone does when they name video game characters. You can see that she wrote the words 'no, and also ew' using the marker.
Alright now let's get serious and take an actual guess. You got it? Okay good.
>Elisa Fonseca
Alright, well your name is ELISA. As can be inferred by previous events, it is a SUNDAY. It is also the last such Sunday you will have on EARTH before BETA TESTING THE FIRST VIDEO GAME IN RECORDED HUMAN HISTORY TO HAVE DIRECT PHYSICAL EFFECTS ON THE REAL WORLD. It will also be the last, not that you would know that at the moment. For now you're just psyched to be involved in what you expect to be a technological revolution. Though much like your friends/coplayers-to-be you appear on the outside to be SEVERELY UNDERREACTING to the fact. You tend to do that with a lot of things, really. Or just plain flip your shit. It should be noted that for you there is NO MIDDLE GROUND between either of those two reactions.
About your room are a number of POSTERS. Said posters are for various SERIES WHO'S FANDOMS YOU LURK IN. These fandoms compose the bulk of your INTERESTS, and many if not most of said fandoms are known for containing COSMIC HORROR ELEMENTS. You will say, though, any lack of such elements can be more than made up for by the simple act of INCLUDING GOOD QUALITY CHARACTERS. In addition to these, you like to program computers, but you are KNOWN TO KINDA SUCK AT IT. Not that that'll stop you or anything. Hell, you already know enough html to make a small website, and it won't take many more lessons on ~ath before you can make a package of candy corn appear every time someone does something stupid. You should TOTALLY DO THAT SOMETIME after you've figured out how, assuming of course that you don't END UP JUST SITTING ON YOUR LAZY ASS as you do with most of your projects. Like FANFIC OR FANART for those fandoms we mentioned like 2 years ago or something, or the similarly exciting art of BASELESS SPECULATION. You tend to like doing both of those things when you don't get too lazy to complete them, and when it's hot you like to SWIM in the POOL provided by your apartment complex. Apart from that, you confess you have a MODERATE TO SEVERE OBSESSION WITH TECHNOLOGY, which may have something to do with the fact that it is your main means of lurking in fandoms and you much prefer the company of your chumroll to most so-called 'real life people'. Not to say you don't CARE ABOUT THOSE PEOPLE on a basic level, particularly coupled with the fact that you are also MILDLY RELIGIOUS, even if that USUALLY DOESN'T AMOUNT TO MUCH unless it somehow manages to be ACTUALLY IMMEDIATELY RELEVANT TO YOU, which isn't very often. At all.
Your first instinct, being in your room, is to wander to your laptop and message your chums, and probably screw with them a bit. But nope, a quick look at your pesterchum app reveals they're not on. Internet bullshit it is, then. You venture to a POKÉMON BATTLE SIMULATOR and use it in a predictable matter.
It proves to be a bit of an off day for you. In a random battle, a guy gets lucky with critical hits from a honedge. In ubers, your darkrai gets frozen twice in a row. In ou, about half your opponents forfeit like a bunch of suckers without even putting up that great a fight.
But hey, what are you gonna do. You're not gonna just stop playing or anything. For one, that's for whiny chumps, and on another more important note you just plain love those little pokemons too much. Especially when it comes to the mystery dungeon sets, wherein you're like a KNIGHT IN SHINING ARMOR to them, bringing them HOPE AND ALL THAT SHIT. (*obligatory gti joke*)
Well, maybe not shining armor, because sure, that's totally a thing that's actually reasonably possible (pfft), but you're ok you think. Usually. Something like that.
After a suitable amount of dicking around as to bring your player character back to Pokéverse, you get bored of the battle simulators and instead DICK AROUND WITH SOME VISUAL NOVEL. Dicking around seems to be your specialty. You need to learn to do productive things. But anyway, you start reading this vn, which you admittedly SPOILED TO YOURSELF a long time ago due to having difficulty getting it to work. You blame your old computer. Thing was always freezing. God, you're glad your UNCLE gave you this new one. Anyway, the novel is supposedly some brainbreaking variant of an And Then There Were None-style mystery, with a bunch of ambiguously symbolic fantasy to scare people off while still providing a bunch of backhanded clues. Not that you've ever actually READ And Then There Were None, but it doesn't matter. You gained the masochistic urge to read this thing at the word 'brainbreaking'.
Click. Read. Click. Read. God, you forgot how long this first arc is supposed to be. Okay, so you didn't really forget per se, you always knew. It just NEVER REALLY SANK IN UNTIL JUST NOW.
Blah blah blah inheritance blah blah witch blah blah blah postmodernism blah--wait where are you going?
Oh. Satisfying cravings. Ok.
You think you probably shouldn't be SNACKING RANDOMLY OUT OF BOREDOM but refuse to give a fuck because who doesn't love CHIPS? POPCORN, of course, is better, but you don't have any as of today and you don't feel like asking your uncle to get you some. You're about to reach out and grab it off the table when said uncle suddenly zaps in (speak of the devil), and before you've fully processed his sudden appearance he's holding the bag away from you and insisting on playing a few games of arimaa real quick.
Your shoulders fall slightly. He's been asking you about three times a week for about three weeks and you don't want to turn him down, but frankly it's starting to bore you a little.
All of his moves are carefully calculated, unlike yours which are mostly based off your own whims. You're not trying that hard, to be honest. That's a thing you save for when your passion burns bright like the sun. Or at least significantly brighter than it is now, which is not at all. You guess he probably wants to teach you careful planning and understanding of one's opponents and such, but you're honestly not all that into it, and in any case the effectiveness of his efforts constantly moves across some metaphorical sliding scale at all times anyway. These games go on for about an hour and a half upon which he achieves best out of five.
Yeah, that's cool. Okay.
Your urge to stuff your body with junk food forgotten, you return once again to your laptop, and still no one is on. Kind of a crying shame, really, given how quickly quiet sets in around you, and with it a sense of boredom. And maybe also a little bit of lack. Maybe. You're not sure what exactly it is that always invades the air, which ever settles around you whilst you are not being harassed by, say, a relative insistent on playing an ever-familiar strategy game, or the colored text of distant friends that you understand you may perhaps never meet in person for years to come. And as you return your attention to the vn and once again become irritated by its length, an ever-present thought finds its way to your conscious brain. The thought of how you wish you had a cool and, dare you say it, influential story to tell, or even just for something to legitimately bug you, and assure you that you understand genuine sensation. Your life is kinda boring, something that you can't confess...(you're glad you didn't say that out loud).
"We must believe then, that as from hence we see Saturn and Jupiter; if we were in either of the Two, we should discover a great many Worlds which we perceive not; and that the Universe extends so in infinitum." -Mark Russell
You are absolutely certain Mark Russell said that.
Someone finally pesters you, and you answer on cue.
Shit, where have we been. Mod E quietly walks in, then adjusts a mic and makes the following announcements.
The one we previously called Mod T had to leave because of schedule problems, leaving us with six people. We wanted eight because shipping. So I brought a couple friends in. So when we previously sought out a Mod T, now we’re hoping for a Mod G and a Mod…um, K, I guess? (EDIT: he just joined like an hour ago.) It’s the first letter of his skype name, and we can’t use his fankid’s name because like mine it starts with an E. Same with his post-scratch kid that all of us might never actually use wait I just spoiled didn’t I.
Well now that that’s been handled I suppose we can start soon. All that’s left is to actually MAKE THIS HAPEN I am so happy.
Current Mods
Mod R
Mod V
Mod E (meesies!)
Mod C (AJ was here)
Mod K (happened pretty soon -Mod K)
Coming Soon, Perhaps
Mod D
Mod B
Mod G
(Spoilers!: Mod R’s kid is named Robn, and they are a Sylph of Doom. Oh and they’re also fluid with they/them/their pronouns. Don’t tell ‘em I spoiled this, hehe!)
I am i guess Mod C or AJ whatever i feel like being, i have no idea what to write here, but i'll be around i guess. ¯¯\_(ツ)_/¯¯ (p.s. i also use a lot of emojis)
This is, and I quote, “Mod E”, and if you’re wondering why we’re using that naming scheme it’s because Mod R suggested using the first letter of each of our respective fankids’ names (yes, this is a kids session, no, none of them follow the four letter naming scheme because no one cared. Except possibly this one person I asked about joining, but we’re still not quite sure whether or not she’s in on this). I thought it was ridiculous but in retrospect we don’t have to spoil you guys as to the names of our fankids. Assuming of course you don’t go to the effort of looking through the bowels of the gigapause.com forums to find our actual info. (Hint: the thread is dead. We pretty much all moved to skype after the gm disappeared aka the issues previously mentioned by R.)
Basically we all got together on the gigapause forums, sent in some submissions, blah blah blah, too long didn’t type, and then made this blog like an hour ago. We’ve been on skype a lot, especially after the whole issue of certain members among us vanishing off the face of the earth (we lost a little under half our original group), so at this point the gp thread is pretty much some old vestigial structure. Not much to see there if you actually bother to excavate it.
Trivia: I’m the only one in our group who lives in the Pacific timezone. Mods D and C are Eastern, everyone else is Central.
Anyway, I think that’s about it. It’s getting late where I am, so I guess I should probably wrap this up. Night all you lovely peoples!
PS. Another bit of trivia: I also run this thing. Yes I just self-advertised. That seems to be a thing with me for some reason.
hello there tumblr, this is mod r, and i'd like to introduce you to my friends.
While this can't currently get off the ground becuase we're one member short after some schedueling issues and some people dropping, we'd like to use this blog to doccument the goings, side goings, alternate goings, and so such of the lives of our rp characters that we have made for, as you guessed it, a fansession made during the gigapause.
