The infamous Giger Bar, managed by a company called Flags, Shirokanedai, Minato, Tokyo, October 1988.

Located near the nature reserve which encompasses the Institute for Nature Study and Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum, the Giger Bar was situated right underneath Shuto Expressway Meguro Route Number 2 and feels like a very unusual spot for a bar of this type.

Designed by H.R. Giger, by the completion of the project he became disenchanted with it due to restrictions placed on his original designs because of earthquake building regulations. The menu included food and cocktails with names such as alien eggs for ¥1,200 and sexual communion for ¥1,500. Reportedly the bar eventually became a den for underworld types. It eventually closed in 1996 and was demolished. A nondescript residential building now occupies the space where the Giger Bar once was.
