Insectember Day 17: Diaphora mendica, the muslin moth! They range from white to dark gray, but there's also pics of them with bicolored wings, so I went with that sort of design! The fluffy ruff also made me think of a boa, so I wanted to draw them as all fancy~ Slowly catching up on Insectember...
Insectember Days 15 and 16! Papilio agenor, and Ceratocanthus sp.!
These ones are SUPER sketchy. The only reason the butterfly is a bit more coherent is because I drew them the day BEFORE I moved to a new apartment, while the beetle was drawn after two days of moving stuff and then working on a big commission. And I still have another two to do tomorrow before I'm caught up! Ah!!
Insectember Day 8: Eumorphus marginatus, the Handsome Fungus Beetle! He's out gathering some mushrooms for lunch uwu
Insectember Day 6: Paraulacizes thunbergii, a sharpshooter leafhopper! They're gonna be late to bug school!! I wanted to try a different sort of posing/angle here, based on the 'hopper' part of the leafhopper's name.
Insectember day 14: The Epomis beetle! This lil bug is known for preying on frogs! Pretty impressive for a beetle!
Insectember Day 9: Reduvius personatus, the masked hunter- a type of assassin bug, where the nymph will cover itself in sand and debris as a form of camouflage! One of their typical prey items is termites, so I was imagining this little guy spying on a termite colony. He's probably gonna get dragged away by his mom soon if he's found, though...
Insectember 18: Sabethes sp., the canopy mosquito! So this one I actually already had a bit of a character design for, since I had been workshopping an OC based off this species awhile back, so it was nice to have an excuse to draw them properly!
Insectember days 12 and 13! Dysodius lunatus, and Camarotus germar! More sketchy because my wrist is acting up and I wanted to take it easy.
Had to skip a couple days to rest my wrist, but I had a lot of ideas for 10 and 11, so I plan to circle back later in the month once I'm feeling better and draw them.
