A letter arrives in the mail in a crisp, pink envelope— stamped with the professional seal of Leuda City Hall. Inside is a pre-typed letter with several blank fields filled in with neat handwriting. The owner of said handwriting has signed his name at the bottom of the letter, as well.
To Ayame Yamashita ;
It has come to our attention at Leuda City Hall that you are currently in negative financial standing with the City. Records indicate that you owe a total of 20,000 G in debts & loans to the City Treasury. We ask please that you begin to make payments in weekly increments in advance of the impending deadline in order to alleviate the burden of repayment in full. Failure to meet the deadline 9th April 2016 to repay your debts in full will result in our need to take further action, including sending a representative of the city to meet with you in person to review repayment plans.
Thank you for your cooperation and for your future payments.
Yours in good faith, Gill Hamilton,
(signed)
Clerk, Leuda City Hall
So where was that letter now? Student loans, student loans, fanmail, more student loans.
Ayame groans, falling backward into the pile of envelopes, honest to goddess hoping she didn’t just get a multitude of paper cuts just now. It is just her luck, the pink envelope she was looking for, is blown into the air and onto her face from the movement of the back of her head.
“Hm? Is this it?” From the looks of the rapidly approaching date written on the note, it really was. The island’s friendly neighborhood debt collector was far too young for her usual routine in paying bills. She really did want there to be enough time for her to get her paycheck before making her run to drop off the funds.
Times like these made her miss her old career.
I'll have Gill pay the additional 10k to Leuda to own the Central Library from his current bank, please! ♥
Thanks for the bank~ the Treasury page has been updated!
hello roomie [Gill & Carl]
Carl had sent ahead a package of his belongings from his childhood home in Arcadia, but after picking it up and having to walk the whole way to Inner City Apartments he was feeling very exhausted. If this was what he had to look forward to living in Leuda, he wasn’t having the best first impression just now...! But that was just his tired brain talking.
He stopped in front of the apartment and set down the box, heaving an enormously tired sigh as he dropped his bag on top of that. Best to compose himself before stepping inside of the new apartment, catch his breath and try to look a little less... grumpy.
“Hrf...” he sighed out, clearing his throat and straightening his tie before knocking on the door and putting on his best smile. His best very tired, very exhausted, and very red-faced smile, at least.
“Hellooo--? Gill?♪” he called against the door, head tilted slightly in hopes that he could hear some sound inside. “I hope you’re in, because I didn’t get a key yet--!♪”
Lost Locks || Gill & Elli
@gildedpages
Elli bit her lip as she watched the people unload from the ferry. Today she was to reunite with Gill after another year of him living on Leuda. He’d been visiting Arcadia more often in the later from when they were children. So many things had changed since then. Something as simple as a haircut, she thought to herself as she ran her hand through her short locks, can seem so drastic.
They lived different lives now. She knew through the letters they’d exchanged since he first moved twelve or so years ago. Each one was stashed in a special box she’d decorated, proudly displayed on her dresser. She looked forward to each letter he sent, telling her about the exciting life in Leuda and what he was up to. On more than one occasion when a letter was running late she worried about him losing interest in her and Arcadia. In comparison to the big city their island was pretty run of the mill. But Elli couldn’t imagine living anywhere else.
And it was times like now, when she’s waiting for him to disembark from the boat, that she got lost in a mix of emotions. The excitement to see her best friend was self-explanatory, but there always that little fear in the back of her mind of when the day would come he didn’t think the same of her. He had a whole city of potential best friends. People that would be there for him everyday and flesh and blood. How can that compare to letters on a page?
She tried to prepare herself for the day when Gill stopped coming to visit Arcadia. But that could wait for another day because there he was stepping off the docks. Her excitment taking over she rushed to greet him
“Gill!” her shout was his only warning before she threw her arms around him in a huge hug, practically tackling the man. She made sure to give him a proper squeeze before looking up at him with a bright smile. “Welcome back!”
attention redirected [Gill&Chase]
A late morning nap had quickly turned into a full afternoon nap, and as Chase finally looked to his clock and saw the time he figured he should probably roll out of bed. He’d worked early that morning at the diner and left before the lunch crowd tore in, and in a haze had somehow managed to take a four hour nap back in his room.
Well, at least he’d made it back to his room. He didn’t realize how tired he had been when he woke up that morning or even left work.
What a routine, if he could call it that. He wasn’t sure when he’d fallen into it, but it filled the time to sleep at least. He threw on an outfit he hadn’t slept in, chiding himself as though he were another person that should know better than sleep all day.
Chase settled into his routine quickly, though the time of day was a little odd for him to show up at the cafe. He hovered by the door, eyes going over the menu for a few seconds as he tried to decide on something different. Something that broke that routine, something that... maybe wasn’t predictable.
He sighed, glancing aside and realizing he’d been hovering very close to one of the occupied tables, its blond occupant absorbed in a book. He looked back to the menu then back to the young man. He hesitated longer now, as though he were still interested in the menu as he tried tilting his head to see what the book was. No such luck. So, attention redirected, he breaks his routine with conversation:
“Hey-- what’re you reading?”
I gave myself a very stern talking to about being in debt, and myself and I came to the consensus to pay the 10K now. Thank you very much.
Thank you~ it wouldn’t be very good of an agent of the city to be in debt, after all!
The Treasury page has been updated~
Here's Gill! He'll be living on Leuda Island, Inner Apartments C103 ♥ I'll have him boss Central Library and work as a Clerk at Leuda City Hall, while studying at Skylar University, if that's alright?
That’s perfectly fine! He owes City Hall 10k for that boss position, though~ please don’t hound yourself for cash... or please do. It would be funny.
Everyone, please follow Gill!
