I have such deep respect for the prime minister of New Zealand Jacinda Ardern for being such an exemplary leader. She demonstrated strength, empathy, justice, wisdom and maturity at an extremely pivotal time. She vowed to "absolutely deny" giving up the mosque gunman a platform, the AP reported. Instead she said, speaking to Parliament, "I implore you speak the names of those who were lost, rather than the name of the man who took them. He may have sought notoriety but we in New Zealand we will give him nothing. This drawing was born out of grief and inspired by the tragic loss of children due to gun violence in the United States, and the dire need to bring awareness to this critical issue. FACTS- In the span of a year since the Parkland shooting (02/14/2018 - 02/14/2019) There was nearly 350 mass shootings. 2018 was the deadliest year ever on record. Nearly 40,000 people died from guns in the United States. The #GilroyShooting was the 246th mass shooting in the U.S. this year...THIS YEAR; averaging 35 a month and one each day. It's important to note that the shooter fits a particular profile that is all too common; neo-nazi, white supremacist. FYI- the NRA has spent 3 billion dollars in the past 10 years to block all meaningful gun reform.
