As a young boy, Gil was always taught to be perfect. Well, as perfect as his father’s standards. Gaston was always reminding his son that when he was his age, all the girls in his village were swooning over him. Gil thrived to be like his father like he had a choice. That meant following his father’s instructions down to a T. Gil couldn’t help but always groan when it came to eating four dozen eggs each morning. He wasn’t the brightest bulb in the box but he knew that eating all those eggs wasn’t healthy. His father didn’t even let him cook them!
Being like his father was tough work and Gil wanted a break from it. He finally got that break when he was invited to live Auradon. He had been thrilled to leave the Isle but had to act as if he didn’t care in the slightest. The only reason his father even let him go was because he had promised to bring honor to Gaston and slay the Beast. Gil couldn’t be bothered to do that though, he had crossed his fingers behind his back when he promised.
One of the first things Gil had done when he arrived was feast on all the delicious food. He enjoyed the scraps that were given to them on the Isle but he never imagined how tasty Auradon food was. He was always stuffing his face in some kind of way, he always had snacks on him. He enjoyed food.
It had been lunch time when he first noticed Y/N push away her food and pulling at the sleeves of her jacket. He didn’t think much of it, there was too much going on around him and Harry was trying to get his attention. He stuffed a piece of chicken into his mouth as he listened to his friend go on and on about how he had just got his hook cleaned. Gil couldn’t help but look over towards Y/N again. She was a table away and alone. A frown spread across the blond’s face. No one deserved to be alone, not even the evilest villain. “I’m gonna give Y/N some company,” Gil spoke with food still in his mouth. He swallowed what was in his mouth and got up from his spot.
He picked his tray up and walked over to the sitting girl. He didn’t ask to sit or say a word at all, he just sat in front of her and began to eat his food again. “Your food is going to get cold,” he said through bites. Manners were never his strong suit.
Y/N shook her head and looked down at the table in front of her. “I’m not hungry.”
“Why not? It’s really good.”
“Big breakfast,” Y/N lied.
Gil stopped eating and pushed his tray aside. “I come from a place where everyone lies and I know a lie when I see one.”
“Don’t you mean ‘hear’? I mean-” Y/N sighed and shrugged her shoulders. “So what if I’m lying? I don’t want to eat.”
“Why not?” Gil was concerned for the girl that he had become friends with over time. She was one of the first people that had accepted him. And he accepted her for who she was too. Y/N didn’t answer him, instead, she looked around the school grounds, trying to avoid his glance. “Talk to me, Y/N. Maybe I can help.”
“You can’t help,” this time she looked at him. “I’m fat and that’s it. You can’t help.”
“Who cares? You’re beautiful just the way you are.”
“You’re just saying that.”
“Am not!” Gil pouted. “You accepted me for who I was but you’re not accepting yourself for who you are. Who cares if you’re bigger or smaller? You’re perfect the way you are. And food is really good.” A grin spread across Gil’s face. “I’ve never had food like this before, it's delicious!”
A giggle escaped from Y/N’s lips. “What’s your favorite?”
“Hmm...I never thought about it.” Gil paused for a moment. There were some many good foods he had tried. It was so hard to pick a favorite. “I think I like cake the most. It's sweet and sugary and my father never let me have anything sweet. He always put me on diets to become buff like him. I didn’t like it very much.” He scooted Y/N’s tray closer to her. “I see some cake on your tray. You should try it, it's the best thing I’ve ever tasted.”
Y/N rolled her eyes at her friend and grabbed her fork from her tray. “You have to eat some too.”
“You don’t have to tell me twice!” Gil grabbed his fork and cut himself a bite from the piece of cake. He waited for Y/N to take a bite first before he did. “See! Food is good!” Gil laughed and Y/N couldn’t help but laugh too.
