evie
- evie is such a busy girl with all the orders she gets from all around the kingdom for her dresses and other pieces but she always pulls through when it comes to you
- she organizes a surprise party and makes everyone invited not even breathe a word of it. while decorating, she thinks about your reaction once you see what she prepared and it leaves her smiling for hours.
- she will make sure the party perfectly reflects your personality, if you’re an introvert she will make it intimate otherwise, brace yourself for one of the most extravagant parties you’ve ever seen.
- she’s actually a pretty good cook and baker so she will bake the birthday cake and put her whole love into it.
- on the day of, she will put everything on hold and spend as much time as she can with you, spoiling you rotten with various gifts and her last gift would be that party.
mal
- birthdays have never been a huge deal on the isle as it is in auradon so this is new for her and unlike evie, she had a hard time adapting.
- however when you first told her your birthdate, she remembered it, even writing it in that little notebook of hers.
- the day before, she was on full stress mode, thinking about how she could make your birthday a great one. this also manifested as her being grumpy around everyone except you all day.
- she landed on using her spellbook, she needed it most right now.
- for the gift, she’d place it somewhere and wait for you to notice it and when you asked if it was from her, she would totally deny deny deny and act like she didn’t rack her brain trying to think of what to give you.
- there would definitely be a later in the day birthday date, more intimate with just the two of you. she doesn’t tell you often but she deeply cherishes those moments alone with you.
jay
- as soon as jay gets how much of a big deal birthdays can be, he immediately gets on board with it
- he would 100% make sure you have the best birthday ever.
- as soon as you wake up, he’s on you, attacking you with hugs and not letting go. he peppers your face with small kisses as he whispers happy birthday in your ear.
- it seems like he’s even more excited than you at times, seeing how giddy he gets.
- he’s buying you everything you’re asking for, posing as your genie for the day. he would still keep a bigger present, pulling it out when you least expect it.
- he’d make the day all about you and give you his undivided attention. all he does is flirt with you all day long and giving you the biggest heart eyes you’ve ever seen.
carlos
- definitely clinging to your side the whole day, fishing for kisses & cuddles always
- he’s kind of freestyling the day, there’s no special activity, as long as he’s with you, everything’s good
- he’s tending to your every need and makes sure nothing upsets you today
- he’s definitely bringing you breakfast in bed in the morning with a smiley pancake while singing you happy birthday
- the gift he’s the type to give you a really thoughtful gift that’s reminiscent of a moment you had together

I wrote this for a lovely anon, I hope you like it!
It is a Mal Oretsev x reader imagine.
The prompt is: “Shh. Come here. It’s just a nightmare”.
Warnings: mentions of death, mentions of trauma
You had always been suffering from nightmares, ever since you had been a young child.
The reason why you had ended up in the orphanage of Keramzin plagued you almost every night, the shadows coming for your parents and yourself out of the darkness of the Fold haunting your dreams regularly.
You had been crossing the Fold with your parents to start a new life but instead you had been forced to start a new life on your own in the orphanage, your parents’ faces plaguing you every day.
You weren’t the only one in Keramzin that had lost their parents to the Fold but you were the only one that had seen them die, your sadness and fear giving enough reason to the children to exclude you.
Everyone did so, until Mal came to ask you to join him and Alina.
He was tentative and nervous, also getting bullied by the other children, but he asked you to be their friend, which you accepted happily.
From then on Alina, Mal and you were inseparable, Alina and you both loved Mal very much, which made him the link that kept the friendship group together.
It wasn’t long until he heard of your nightmares, which he didn’t like at all.
He tried to give you different ideas or things to think about to discourage the nightmares but they always came, until you one night simply slipped into his bed, after another horrifying memory playing in your sleep.
Mal was confused at first but as soon as he saw you and the expression on your face he lifted his poor pitted blanket to share it with you.
All he did was send you a warming, comforting smile as he lay back down facing you, the two of you falling asleep looking at each other, and holding hands.
When the matron Ana Kuya found out she certainly wasn’t happy, giving you a beating that you didn’t forget for a long time.
You stayed away from Mal at night but the next time you had a bad dream Mal heard and came to lay with you, which earned another beating.
Mal was scared of the matron but somehow he didn’t care about the punishments and fits of anger that much, seeing as he shared his bed with you whenever you had a bad dream, making the punishments slowly fade away, because there was nothing Ana Kuya could do to keep you away from each other.
Over the years your nightmares stopped and you grew into young adults, being drafted into two different platoons and Alina becoming a part of the Cartography team, which kept you from seeing each other.
The only times you saw each other was when your platoons were stationed together, which brought you to the edge of the Fold.
Your nightmares had long stopped coming, only a distant memory in the back of your mind, but the sight of the giant Shadow wall sent shivers down your spine that were only calmed by seeing Malyen Oretsev.
He had changed a lot, had gotten even taller and stronger than you had last seen him and he had become even more handsome, deepening your crush on him that you had developed over the years further.
He immediately enveloped you into a hug that smelled like him, a smell of wood and musk mixed with the memory of the smell of the meadow he seemed to be carrying still, after all these years.
The hug was grounding you and evaporating your fears, happiness over seeing Mal again winning over the distant memories.
Mal’s presence helped you a lot and you were always together, Mikhael and Dubrov loved to see the two of you together and they seemed to adore you, occasionally making more or less improper jokes at the cost of Mal’s nerves.
He always tried to dismiss their statements with jokes or mock hurt but anyone who knew him well saw that he grew a little flustered over it.
Everything was fine before the commanding officer read both your and Mal’s name as First Army soldiers to be taken through the Fold.
Mal seemed to keep his cool but even he was concerned, more about you than himself, because he knew of your fear, but you weren’t doing all that well.
Your instant reaction was to rush out of the tent to get some air, immediately followed by Mal, who even called out after you.
Reaching the fresh air he immediately pulled you into a hug, holding you until you stopped trembling and mumbling comforting whispers into your hair.
When he pulled away it was only to look you in the eyes, making sure that you listened to what he had to say while still holding onto you.
“Nothing will happen to you”, he said softly but his voice was stern, leaving no room for thinking that he meant it halfheartedly.
“I’ll be by your side the entire time, nothing will happen to you”, he repeated but you could simply nod, your voice gone from fear.
The day went by in a blur but you couldn’t fall asleep, your heart racing while your mind was too tired to function, leaving you ruled by fear and emotions until you drifted off to sleep.
You were shaken awake by familiar hands only a few minutes later, hands stroking hair out of your sweaty face and Mal’s eyes searching your own.
His platoon wasn’t even stationed near yours but somehow he had been near enough to have heard your screams, just like everyone else in the tent that was staring at you through the darkness.
You were breathless and crying as Mal pulled off his boots, his eyes never leaving you as he climbed into your small field bed and under your blanket.
His body was cold from the night air but it was a welcome distraction from the heat and fear from your almost feverish dream, grounding you like anything else Mal did for you.
He lay down to face you like he had done so many times already, pulling some strands of hair behind your ear to get a better look at you.
“Shh. Come here. It’s just a nightmare”, he whispered, his deep voice soothing you further, even though your mind was still racing.
With everything Mal did you still weren’t calm, your thoughts revolving around one specific detail of the dream you had had.
“Mal, it wasn’t just my parents in the Fold, in my dream”, your voice was airy, pressed, but you knew that you had to finish what you had to say, to let go of some of the weight that was laying on you with the knowledge.
“You were there too, in my dream”, you added, hearing Mal take in a small breath as he looked at you, a serious expression on his face.
“You died too”, you finished, but Mal shushed you again, shaking his head and pressing his lips against your sweaty forehead.
He didn’t dismiss you but he took you seriously, remembering all the times you had fearfully spent in his company.
“Nothing is going to happen to us. You and me. We’ll be fine, I promise”, he whispered, and it was the last thing you heard before exhaustion overtook you and you drifted off to sleep, resting safely in Mal’s arms.
