top five animes

Hi Maša 🤍 Don't mind me rambling a little in asnwering the question (:

The Rose of Versailles (1979-1980), adapted from the manga by Riyoko Ikeda. The scandals, the intrigues, the dramatic sparkling eyes and glittery tears! The big crush I had on Lady Oscar! I used to watch it all the time on television when I was a child (and a teen, and now as I am an adult) so there's a sentimental value to it too. This anime has the most specialest spot on my heart (:

ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Dept (2017), adapted from the manga by Natsume Ono. Not long ago I was rambling to no end about how much I love this one so it's no surprise I'm putting it on the list hehe. This anime has a super nice style, a banger funk sound track, great characters and a thrilling plot about a golpe and also delicious looking food. I found it by accident five years ago and regularly watch it every year, this is how much I like it.

House of Five Leaves (2010), adapted from the manga by Natsume Ono again (what can I say, I am a fan) I found it after watching ACCA and despite it being something entirely different, I think one can recognise Natsume Ono's touch in the lingering sense of ambiguity in the plot, the subtle tensions and the super charming characters that make both animes real bangers, the writing is great! The range, ma'am.

Mononoke (2007). This was recommended by a friend who suggested I may have liked the style and, guess what! they were right. The atmosphere is eerie and strange in the most charming way and compliments perfectly the various horror-themed plots. I haven't watched it in ages (,:

One Piece (1999-ongoing), adapted from the manga by Eiichiro Oda. Doesn't need introductions. Iconic. I have the fondest memories of One Piece that cover basically all my life. It feel so weird to think one day it will be over.

Special mentions: Mushishi (2005-2006) thank you Dani forever for recommending it, Cowboy Bebop (1999-2000) banger that I never finished, F (1988) that nobody remembers but I was literally obsessed with it as a kid

1. What is their full name?  Tazim ibn Hassan al-Zadithij al-Diraj; currently goes by Tazim al-Diraj only.

10. How old are they?  He’s in his early 30s (32, maybe 33)

16. Of the four, six or seven magical elements which are they most connected to? Four: fire,air water earth. six: fire,air,water, wood,earth, metal. Seven:fire, air, water, wood, earth, metal, aither.

41. How many languages could they speak before the memory loss? How many do they currently speak? Tazim used to fluently speak eight languages, plus a little bit of some more thanks to his parents’ frequent contact with merchants and travelling scholars from all around; currently, he can fluently speak five languages and if he cared enough, he could easily learn a couple more.

58. Who did they look up to as a kid? His favourite person and biggest inspiration growing up was his Mother.  Then, there was a local travelling Cartographer (read: pirate) who used to stop by his father’s shop often when he was in the city; Tazim absolutely adored him and his wild stories of distant seas and lands, and the Cartographer loved the childish enthusiasm of Tazim in return. That’s how the kid came to learn about the wonder of astrology and astronomy. There’s another person Tazim looked up to, which is a rather famous Traveller from the South; despite never meeting him personally, the Traveller was a real hero for the young magician-to-be.

“I…I don’t know…” the bartender sighed, shaking his head.  “I wish I could say that I was strong enough to just cut ties with her, but…I really do love her…”  He sighed again and looked at his hands.  “I just wish she could see things the way I see them.  While she’s in the castle all day every day, I’m out there with everyone else and I just…I see them, y’know?  She wants equality, she really does, but all the things her father pounded into her head during and after the War…you wouldn’t believe how far she’s come since I met her.”

Gin let a small smile show his pride in the queen as he shook his head again.  “That first morning was a blast, let me tell you…I thought she’d have me hanged just for bringing her to such a common apartment…”  A small chuckle escaped him at the fond memory.  “I didn’t even know she was the queen until she came in to breakfast, but I guess that was the drinks talkin’.  She only had two, can you believe that?  The queen bein’ such a lightweight?”

Another sigh passed through his lips as his smile faded.  “I don’t…I don’t think there’s anything that could make me end it at this point…I mean, she’s a bit miffed that I’m fighting her on the new laws, and I’m more than a little angry with her for her new policies, but…I don’t know…”
