The Little Art Connoisseur (1863) August Friedrich Siegert
like everything aside what's the idea behind casting one black woman and then everyone else is sickly pale snow white? no nuance? like no olive skin no tanned no light brown, people either come in black (but only one person, god forbid) or white??
listening and taking notes
looks inside procrastination -> it's anxiety -> looks inside anxiety -> it's fear -> looks inside fear -> it's shame
Surely these circumstances will improve with additional shame
Here's the confirmation - the backlash this film has received put Nolan's spin doctors on overdrive.
The film is released next month.
comunque mai nella vita avrei immaginato che mi sarei trovato a pensare madonna alberto angela come sei arrivato a questo punto ma a quanto pare è successo

being this the era of cringe american remakes of classics it's mad funny that the pr campaigns are left to people (both directors and actors) who have literally no idea about the original source (which is in itself not a crime as that's not their job description), made no effort to learn anything and they are so shamelessly ignorant and disrespectful to whoever gives a fuck too

what kills me most about the odyssey costume design discourse is the "realism" defence because what is more realistic than historically accurate clothing? ''it would look stupid'' no it would look exactly the way it's supposed to. if you think that the culture you're actively profiting from is stupid and needs fixing then think again. ''it's just not nolan's style'' well then maybe he shouldn't be adapting the odyssey. do you have any idea how messed up it is to take such a culturally significant story and strip it of all it's native elements because they don't fit your aesthetic? it reeks of entitlement. nolan fans who take this criticism personally and attack everyone need to understand that it also reflects badly on nolan as a filmmaker. to have a production this big be so careless, get the most basic things wrong and end up looking cheap as a result because the director couldn't be bothered otherwise is an extremely bad look. no one is stopping you from watching and enjoying this movie but the odyssey is one of the most important epics in history. it deserves better
literally + it just speaks volumes about his absolute inadequacy at having a true artistic vision + shows a fundamental lack of effort in doing the minimum research when it comes to anything outside the hollywood standard because there's many examples of keeping close to accurate -with an authorial twist- that look beautiful today as it did forty years ago
+ the flashing incompetence in like filming because there's no way he had at his entire disposal entire lands in the mediterranean* and he still managed to make the landscape look generic and gray like genuinely how does one even do that + the entitlement of having actual greek experts in the historical and design field and going full batman mode why because it doesn't fit the dark night vibes?
there are too many movies. lets start by getting rid of christopher nolan
