Sony: 'Blythe doll' MZ-R900 MiniDisc Walkman ad for Muzik Magazine n°75 (2001) Photography By: Gina Garan
“This is Blythe” by Gina Garan, the lovely lady who brought popularity to Blythe dolls again in the 2000’s. Eventually led to the Neo Blythe after Kenner Blythe’s from ‘72 which were only produced for a year due to children finding Blythe unsettling. I adore her photography from the 2000’s and now own two of her books dedicated to her unique photography related to Blythe.
I remember wanting a Blythe doll so badly as a child but they were out of my budget and hard to get. Now as an adult, I see fake Blythe’s are crazy popular. (Nothing wrong with fakes, definitely more cost friendly and customs are so gorgeous and the artists are so talented) So strange to see how far it’s come. To fulfill my childhood dream I now own 5 Neo Blythe’s! One Takara Blythe and five Good Smile Blythe’s.
Thank you Allison Katzman for your original creation, the Kenner Blythe. It has truly brought people together all over the world. I feel good knowing before you passed you saw your creation gain support and love again. Rest in Peace ♡︎
