These gingerbread bars with cream cheese frosting are a delightful holiday treat, combining the warm spices of ginger, cinnamon, and cloves with the creamy sweetness of cream cheese frosting. Perfect for festive gatherings or a cozy night in.
Ingredients: 1 cup all-purpose flour. 1/2 teaspoon baking powder. 1/4 teaspoon baking soda. 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger. 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon. 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves. 1/4 teaspoon salt. 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted. 1/2 cup brown sugar. 1/4 cup molasses. 1 large egg. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. 4 ounces cream cheese, softened. 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened. 1 cup powdered sugar. 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract.
Instructions: Preheat oven to 350F 175C. Grease a 9x9-inch baking pan. In a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt. In a separate large bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, molasses, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, stirring until smooth. Spread batter evenly into the prepared baking pan. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool completely. Meanwhile, prepare the cream cheese frosting by beating together cream cheese, softened butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy. Once the gingerbread bars are cooled, spread the cream cheese frosting evenly over the top. Cut into bars and serve. Enjoy!
