Soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, and other traditional Korean flavors are used in this recipe for Korean-style steak to make a marinade that is both savory and slightly sweet. You can grill or sear it in a pan, and it goes great with rice and kimchi to make a full meal.
Ingredients: 2 lbs beef steak such as ribeye or sirloin. 1/3 cup soy sauce. 1/4 cup brown sugar. 3 cloves garlic, minced. 2 tablespoons sesame oil. 1 tablespoon rice vinegar. 1 tablespoon ginger, minced. 2 green onions, thinly sliced. 1 teaspoon black pepper. 1 tablespoon sesame seeds, for garnish. 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, for cooking.
Instructions: In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, sesame oil, rice vinegar, ginger, green onions, and black pepper to create the marinade. Place the beef steak in a resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish, and pour the marinade over it. Ensure the steak is evenly coated. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or ideally overnight. When ready to cook, remove the steak from the marinade and let it come to room temperature for about 30 minutes. Heat vegetable oil in a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the steak and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or adjust cooking time according to desired doneness. Remove the steak from the pan and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing. Slice the steak against the grain and serve garnished with sesame seeds. Enjoy!
