GINGIVITIS (2025)

I wanted to do a self portrait that felt more authentic. Often I don't feel human, so many depictions of myself end up having non-human characteristics. On that note, it's very dehumanizing the way people approach struggles with oral hygiene, especially when paired with mental or physical ailments. And because of that, I am willing to admit I have gingivitis and struggle with oral hygiene due to mental health issues. If you do too, you're not alone, and you're not gross.

Supplies used: Bianyo dual tip alcohol markers, Gelly Roll white gel pen, ink pen, and Posco paint markers.
