[This is a series of mythologies for my original world. I am starting with the creation myths for now! You can buy me a Ko-Fi here!]
Ginnun did not need to court Balaeyg. He had great love of his creator, and Ginnun accepted this eagerly. In their time together, they mated often and eagerly.
Balaeyg was able to see far and well. This was advantageous, especially for how vast and wide the universe was then. In time, all of Ginnun’s creations formed territory. Balaeyg illuminated his. He was light and therefore the stars were his realm. As all beings do, they had their favorites, and Balaeyg had his favorite galaxy, his favorite solar system, and his favorite planet.
He often visited many planets and spaces in between.
Ginnun did not stop his creating. Between them, Balaeyg had seven children. He cared for them, cleaning their eggs, ensuring them safety.
Ginnun had great care over their young, yet by his very nature, he found it difficult to remain in one place. This was not without desire. Often he wished to remain by his lover’s side, yet his body would break, decay, and he would find himself elsewhere.
For all of his ability, Balaeyg could not always find him.
This was when he created the Mirror.
One day, Ginnun disappeared. In his wake, he had left behind decayed parts of his form. This was not unusual, and it helped aid the universe. He was fertility incarnate, and this is why decay benefits life. There is no reason to feel shame or fear in death.
With great rage, Balaeyg struck the residue, mourning the lost time with his lover. When the air cleared, before him was a crude shard. He had formed glass from Ginnun’s decayed parts.
This glass was unlike any other. It was jet black and consumed light within itself. It did not shine. Yet all the same, it reflected if one understood how to look.
