It would have been easier if he’d said anything else. Called her a lost cause, said she wasn’t worth saving, gave up on her, anything. She’s so far past the point of fixing that she may never have been whole in the first place. He can mask it as kindness all he wants, but she sees it for what it is, or at least what she thinks it to be - arrogance, pure and simple.

“… Why?” Why waste his time on such a wretched abomination that the rest of the world wants dead? There’s nothing in it for him. He won’t earn her kindness or trust, not now, not ever. There’s no point. Not for either of them.

Pandora isn’t sure exactly how she managed to escape the sick bay. All she can make sense of is a flurry of activity, fighting against restraint, and blind, unthinking fury - but she’s out now, and she’s free to focus on looking for her brother.

She keeps an eye for signs of a struggle instead of calling out for Prometheus, for even in her hazy state she knows it’ll only get her caught. What she finds, however, is worse than any sentry, and surely the last thing she’d ever have wanted to see.

“... You. Defective.” The words come out before she’s even considered that addressing Grey might be a bad idea. “Where is he being held.”
