GN!Reader x Insert Character
Synopsis: A bad night turns into an unexpected visit ending in a hug.
CW: this is probably ass, only GN terms used, character is refered to with They/Them pronouns, Reader isn't refered to explicitly, more like first POV? Werewolf Reader, Reader is referred to as a monster/freak in some lines.
A/N: I don't write often in a I'm gonna post it sense, I just wanted to get thoughts out and this was over the span of one car ride. It can be interpreted as trans too, sometimes I feel like a werewolf for wanting to be me like I should hide it away but yeah. Feels more reader focus, advice helps when I plan to post again.
It was late, too late for them to be up at this time. Hell they shouldn't have even thought of texting you when it was this late, but it still happened.
You still answered your phone anyways, pained groans and whines coming out of your lips despite your best attempts to hold them back.
“What do you - need?”, it came out a bit more pained than you intended, a squeak coming out from your mouth at the end of the sentence. You couldn't tell nor care as much right now if you sounded awfully rude over the phone to them.
The line was awfully quiet leaving you with your thoughts as you felt your spine start to curve and protrude in ways that weren't normal, weren't human. You haven't shifted in a while, that was on you. Your small pathetic wishes of staying normal, human.
You knew you couldn't keep it away for too long, urges coming and going as you held it in more and more. You could remember a few weeks it spiked, your need for flesh, bone, the crunch and cry of a poor animal under you. It scared you at times, people don't think like that, like animals, you tried so hard to ignore it. Satisfying yourself with jerky and beef sticks like a dog.
You’re snapped out of your haze, brought back to the present as you hear the shuffle on the phone, almost frantic like over the phone, your new found pair of ears, covered in fur as your once human ones turned into just another patch of fur on your face, flickered in amusement.
You tried hard to figure out what they were doing, it was hard to think with the sharp pain spiking from your lower spine down to your legs. It felt as hot as magma, you choke out a cry as you tried moving your lower half into a more comfortable position. Tears welling in your eyes as you gave up, the pain was simply too much for you to bare, much less move.
Your gaze falling back on the bright screen that illuminated a part of your room, a screen once comforting now too harsh for you to gaze at for too long. But you persisted, the headache, the eyestrain would be worth it, you just need to get your words out. Ask them to talk to you as you suffered in the background. Any noise is better than no noise. That's how it'll always be to you.
You could only pick up on small curses and groans from the line, ‘something something, idiot’, you'd hope they weren't calling you an idiot. But you knew better than to assume they'd mean it in a rude way.
You could have sworn the footsteps had gotten heavier, louder than what the phone could produce until you heard the sound of your front door click open and shut behind someone. Footsteps approaching your dark hiding spot as well as what sounded like a plastic bag?
Surely you weren't getting robbed by someone with a plastic bag, right? If you were then, you'd have to protect your territory .. home. You felt feverish at this rate, though it was subsiding, hands and feet feeling more like paws, a strange arch in your back, the feeling of air running through what felt like millions maybe thousands of hair, made you feel ever so.. vulnerable. Like everything saw you for what you truly are, a monster, an animal, a weirdo, a freak, anything they could sling at you to get a reaction from the freak that transforms into a monster.
You got defensive, vision blurred as the door opened to your hiding spot. You lunged, almost going for a bite to neck, a harsh one, one intended to kill. Yet you never did so. Never killed, never proved that you were that monster they told you, you were. Normally you would growl, scared, even slightly injured them but.. you couldn't, this person in front of you seemed different. Comforting, warm.. familiar- it was them.
The time you thought they were off busy doing something they had gone to get to you, the second you sounded in pain they had immediately thought of coming over to help. Although they did misdiagnos you with a cold, fever, something to be cured by rest or soup. Although the soup they brought would be useless now. Spilled out on the ground from your initial pounce.
You shifted off them, waiting for a yell, a scream, anything that showed they didn't want you anymore. That this was too much for them, and it came. A scream of surprise but for some reason they didn't leave. Didn't run, didn't shout out names, they got closer, down to eye level and just held you. Like that.. slow, comforting, warm. Like it all didn't matter. Like you being a monster wasn't such a bad thing after all.
