He used to dream, in cryo; in the early days, when the best they could do was render him unconscious, his mind would spin strange fantasies and leave him disoriented and half-delusional every time they brought him out for a mission or an upgrade. As technology improved --- or, at least, that is how he thinks of it --- the dreams stopped. Maybe his mind couldn’t do it anymore; maybe the coma they put him in was too deep.
The process is different in Wakanda, gentler, but still he does not dream. Not for a while, anyway. But now...
He finds himself in a field, grass up almost to his hips, skimming along the tips of his fingers, wildflowers scattered throughout the weeds, and he thinks------ he can feel with both hands, knows from that alone that it is a construction of his mind, and cannot help but wonder why his mind, when faced with any number of horrors, has chosen this blank slate for its setting.
