I honesty think a jive/hip hop dance would be one of the biggest train wrecks on the show. However, I could most definitely see a jive/broadway dance working out, also a rumba/contemp A jazz funk/cha cha dance would be so cool though :D I'm trying to think of how they could fuse samba but idk. That one seems hard to pair with another dance.

You'll see when I post Calle Ocho! It's a hip-hop/samba fusion and it came out sooooo good. I don't know how that would go with another style, though. We see rumba/contemporary all the time, though. Just look at any of the rumbas from the last few seasons. /shade

Season 10's list actually started out with a jazz dance, which I guess makes it really bad if it's ranked below all the hip hop and ballroom dances. :P Anyways, I just watched Straight to Number One and I really really love that dance. We don't usually get to see great latin ballroom except in showcases, and even then it's usually cha cha. While I love cha cha, I think it would be really cool to see a jive or paso doble group dance or something like that. I'd like to see how that would work :)

Oh right. Well, I took Come and Dance With Me as a personal offense, so I’m totally biased against that dance. :P 

Or samba. Pretty much all the ballroom showcases have been sambas. We never seen jives. But there was a group jive dance in season…3, I believe? And there was a hip-hop/samba fusion in this season.To be honest, I’m scared of how a group paso doble would look, though.

Random Season 10 question: do you think the final 2 girls/winner would have been different if Jasmine or Hayley had gotten Wicked Game instead of Amy? Or if Amy had gotten a new All-Star choreographer instead of Travis Wall?

Honestly, no. I think Amy was destined to win regardless since the judges were so intent on it. I mean, Jasmine had Run the World in the finale and she still didn't win. I think it just largely helped her case that she got Wicked Game with Travis, but she won have won no matter what, I'm pretty sure. But if Hayley were the one to dance Wicked Game, she may have edged Jasmine out for the finale. And if Jasmine were the one to dance Wicked Game, I would have passed out.

But my dream set up for that top 8 show would be if Hayley and Amy had switched around all-stars. It worked out fantastically the way it was since Meant and Wicked Game were both awesome, but we could have seen how Amy would fare in Latin and Hayley would have gotten the Dramatic Contemporary Moment(tm) that she deserved.

Just wondering, why did the judges keep calling Mollee and Nathan the "Dream Team" if they were a huge train wreck pairing as everyone keeps saying? (I didn't watch Season 6 live, just a few videos every now and then recently on YouTube.)

Because they did pretty well their first two weeks and they’re both really technically strong dancers in their style, so I guess the judges assumed they’d be a power couple. And then the salsa happened and it was all downhill from there. Even Nigel was eating his words by top 12 and said straight out that he couldn’t wait for them to be separated after top 10, lol.

So after watching the solos you listed, I think that I like AdeChike and Billy's solos the best. What I like about them is that neither of them rely on tricks, but instead they have this crazy musicality. Like, I don't know how they hear the music because I could never choreograph something like what they do. Plus I agree about Billy's solos having a beginning, middle and end. It's nice to see it actually finish instead of just stopping, ya know?

I think AdeChike and Billy were the strongest overall soloists, definitely. Billy just has some otherworldly talent going on, and AdeChike was older than everyone and had developed his own style, so I think that’s why. Like, they know they don’t have to just do over 9000 turns and 9000 leaps and flips to make a solo work. And yes, it drives me crazy when they just stop or they just throw one last trick during the SYTYCD part at the end. 

Billy’s musicality is why I would have liked to see him attempt the stepping routine. I mean, the krump was awful, yes, but I think he might have been able to pull it off because he obviously knows how to deal with beats. He even said that it was his favorite even though he never got to do it, so maybe it would have been awesome even without tWitch.

Add him to the coup and he can choreograph along with Diane Horner ;D Anyways, if you look at this season, they hardly gave anyone their own style this year. Jasmine and Amy only had one contemp with their partners, and then didn't have another until the finale. Paul didn't have Latin until Top 10. Hayley had only two contemporaries. It seems to me that the only people who got their own styles were Makenzie, Nico, FikShun. Also Jenna, but both of her

ballroom dances didn't have the best choreography. :P I guess they were trying not to have each dancer get an overload of their style or something like Season 8? Idk. :P also, Merry Christmas! :)

That video just made my whole day, hahaha. He will definitely be a guest choreographer with Diane Horner, also a guest judge. 

See, the thing about the style distribution these days is that there's still a really, really heavy jazz/contemporary bias. In season six, there was never more than one contemporary and one jazz routine per show. Sometimes there would even been three ballroom routines. The distribution was just much, much more even. Like...Jasmine and Aaron got to the finale and only had Latin one time...in the finale. The show's just come a long way from Joshua (and I think Benji?) winning fair and square after only dancing his style once. Would absolutely never happen these days. 

Paul only danced Latin once, but he danced contemporary/jazz at least 9000 times. Same with Fik-shun. Same with Alexis. It's just kind of irritating considering how the show used to be.

I completely agree with you about Cristina being robbed. >.< There was no reason to save Melinda over her. If you look at the next week, Melinda performed an awful salsa and the judges were telling her they wished they had kept Cristina. I've never heard of anyone but Amber getting two ballroom dances in a row (correct me if I'm wrong), but I bet that if Cristina had the salsa she wouldn't have been in the bottom for at least that week. /hates wack eliminations

Two ballroom routines in a row used to happen quite often back when there was actually an even distribution of styles dances per show. It used to be that you wouldn't see a contemporary dancer get their own style for weeks on end, but now you can pretty much guess who's gonna get what and when. (For example, in season 3, Lauren and Neil got a salsa the very first week. That would NEVER happen these days.) 

But Cristina was totally robbed and it was ridiculous. I guess they saved Melinda since she had the contemporary that week and I think she had more classical training than Cristina did, so you know that always has priority. >.< I don't really know what their logic was, but whatever it happened to be, it was stupid as hell. /still mad

Sooo I think Work is probably my biggest guilty pleasure of the season. I really like it. I do agree with you on somethings, though. Like, why she got a samba instead of a salsa. I'm pretty sure Pasha and Anya know salsa? And also, it seems like Pasha was showcased in this dance rather than Cristina. That's kinda the problem with All-Stars sometimes because its pretty much their job to let the contestants shine? But anyways, this one of my favorite ballroom dances to watch and I love it ^_^

Pasha and Anya both did salsa during the season, so they can obviously do it. That showcase literally makes no sense to me. Cristina was pretty much in the background the entire dance. I didn't have an issue with the all-stars during the actual competition, but these group dances are just epic fail. One later centers completely around Allison and I can't even tell who the contestants are! 

But I guess the samba is pretty jammin. :P
