I’m not that anon but I too have been curious as to why you were so into this franchise. :) I’ve never seen any of the films. Should I just watch the 1st one then skip to the 4th if I wanna catch up to the newest one
YES. I mean you could probably get away with not watching Fast 4 (except a big chunk of the new one has to do with a development in Fast 4 so the impact is lessened if you don't know what's going on), but I really enjoyed Fast 4 so I have a soft spot for it. It had some great desert sequences! Plus, that's when you meet Gisele who is the best, best, best! But all roads lead to Fast 5 AKA THE GREATEST. You definitely don't have to watch 2 or 3. You get everything you need to know about 2 Fast 2 Furious (the title is the best part of it) during the team building of Fast 5 and everyone's life would be better without the third movie. It makes you hate everyone and everything except one person and then rewards you by screwing you over on that front too. Tokyo Drift is the Jon Snow of the franchise. It knows nothing and is terrible and RUINS LIVES.
