The Warring Era and Githmund Extiez
Although Marcwith has been historically turbulent and many written sources have been lost, it was the birthplace of many famous characters that have become household names. During the feudal era families like the Extiez, the Stormvice, and the Arnoons created some of the world’s most well-known historical figures, most famously the writer Githmund.
There are few other authors with the prestige and renown of Githmund Extiez. A rejected heir of Vinumera, he become the first and only chronicler of the ‘Mysterious West’ and the ancient legends that still prevailed in his time. His is the only documented information that survived turbulent Marcwith and the only stories concerning a direct relationship with the Western half of the continent. Although his work has come under significant scrutiny, his stories are still considered to contain one-of-a-kind knowledge and without doubt he is the most widely published author in history.
An heir of the Stormvie territory, Hande was a terrible force to reckon with. She had a bizarre sexual appetite which drove her to disfigure aggressive males and ‘raise’ them like dogs. Usually these were rivaling Stormvice, ‘Human Animals’, but her greatest prize was a Sawhet Killdeer, prominent Deerless heir, alleged rapist, and open racist. Hande’s signature mutilations were common of the Deerless medics when creating Cells; namely removal of the forearms, calves, and genitalia. After his capture Sawhet went through this process and lived as one of Hande’s favorite pets, even sleeping next to her in bed and guarding her against wild animals and surprise attackers. Among Hande’s entourage of Human Animals were famous cult leader and sexual predator Kaman Siella and well-known criminal leader Tellic Noan. Despite Hande’s predilection for the bizarre and maimed, she did eventually agree to take a husband to settle an argument between her mother’s and father’s families. There is little written about her cousin, Smayou, who reportedly was terrified to cross his wife lest he end up another limbless resident of her sick utopia.
LONG AGO, the continent of Marcwith was torn apart by warring families. Of these families, the noble Extiez gathered small clans and carved out territory in the northern tip of Marcwith. After years of protecting their clans, Vinumera Extiez finally established a firm border between their land and the constant battlefield where the rest of Marcwith fought for dominance. For three hundred years the country of Vinumera was a relatively peaceful place while Marcwith descended into a barren wasteland. However, when strange foreigners came to Vinumera from across the sea, old feuds once again became relevant. The Extiez family decided to welcome the strangers – mostly because they offered to teach the family the secrets of SAILING – but hey they betray everyone and it sucks. The foreigners follow a powerful family of their own called the Arnoons and their main competitors are the Stormvice. The Extiez try to keep the peace, but have mostly just been losing territory to the other two.
