HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO GIVE..ME..LIFE!!!
It seems like just yesterday, I decided to launch my fashion blog and document my early experiences working in the industry. I really just used it for a creative outlet. Who would've known it would lead me into greater experiences. Now it has already been a year - time really flies!
Aww! I remember this!
It's been a great year. Lots of ups, growth, opportunities, and new friends. But of course there were some dark times as well, but it has only bettered me and has made me stronger and wiser.
I want to thank everyone that reads and supports my blog. This is a work in progress and I am so appreciative of those who have been apart of that. Special thanks to one of my best friends, Candace Henderson - my PR girl! Always spreading the word and helping this grow!

I watched it so many times I had to go lay in a darkened room. Directed by Hype Williams, her "Stupid Hoe" video takes the majestic Minaj legend to a whole new level of hilarious arty hoochie-chic. Alexander McQueen/Barlas Baylar Event
Last night was one of the most amazing nights I've had in a while! I attended an exclusive showing of the latest collections from Alexander McQueen and furniture designer, Barlas Baylar of Hudson Furniture. What's funny is I just learned about the furniture designer about a couple weeks ago when I spotted his signature chandeliers in a boutique. What are the odds that I would be attending his swanky soiree only soon after!
It was rainy last night yet the the evening was lovely. My friend and I were greeted with a glass of wine and bruschetta -- yes I was so ready. **Note - Key to my heart is fashion, food, and liquor. The event was held at both designer's meatpacking showrooms -- Alexander Mcqueen downstairs and Hudson Furniture store upstairs (this is where the new collection was held). Naturally, we began our night downstairs at the McQueen store. The fashion was drop dead amazing of course. It was my first time viewing the Fall/winter collection up close. It was EVERYTHING.
I entered a raffle for this clutch. I need it.
So as we are making our way upstairs, LIFE was given. Kelly Cut-Throat Cutrone, my spiritual mentor, my business guru, my motha, my love passes me and by then I'm already a bit buzzed so confidence came out and I say "HEY KELLY!". She was super cool and said "Hey kids!". From there I decided that this woman will be my friend by the end of the night. Stay tuned for the ending of this story.
Anyway I go upstairs and view the amazing McQueen Resort 2012 collection and Barlas Baylar's lastest collection. It was all I wanted and more.
So I see Kelly Cutrone again and this time she comes to me! When I say a third of my LIFE was given...If Beyonce would have came in next I wouldn't be here ya'll. Because my life would have been complete. Anywho, Kelly and I were really talking it up. She's so amazing! I didn't take a pic with her because the conversation was going so well I didn't want to turn into a fan -- I told you guys I'm trying to be here friend! LISTEN.
THEN she says Willow Smith was in the building. So of course I found her.
She is soooo adorable!
Other faces I saw was Rosci Diaz and Sherlen Archibald.
The night was full of fashion, fun, drinks, and surprises! I definitely didn't know what was in store that day. I hope you all enjoyed my story and the flicks!

Nicki Minaj and Prince Performing for H&M Launch!
Donatella Versace is making her launch for H&M the greatest most elaborate launch any retail chain has ever seen! Tomorrow, Tues Nov. 8, Versace will throw an exclusive fashion show and afterparty in NYC. According to WWD, Nicki Minaj and Prince are set to perform for the grand celebration. It is reported that they will perform post-show seperately but come on, there has to be an exclusive duet in there somehow!

BEYONCE COVERS DAZED AND CONFUSED
King B graced the cover of Dazed and Confused. She looks flawless...and I just feel these words are pointless. DUH! SO OBVIOUS, JUST LOOK:

MUST SEE: BILL CUNNINGHAM NEW YORK
So over the weekend I saw the film Bill Cunningham New York.
Bill Cunningham is the fashion photographer for The New York Times. Every day, he rides his bicycle around Manhattan and takes random photos of stylish New Yorkers. He has captured even some of the most fashionable people and legends, including Iris Apfel and Patrick McDonald. But don't think Bill is interested in celebrity for photo-ops. He's all about the FASHION. He finds inspiration in all areas. Whether you are a bag woman or a socialite, if your style inspires him you'll get shot!
What I love about Bill is his simplicity. He is so genuine. He doesn't do what he does for the fame or recognition, it's truly passion. He is one of the last artists living in Carnegie Hall with a bedroom surrounded with file cabinets of photos dating from as early as the 1960s (or even earlier)! He wears a blue garbage man's jacket and khakis. How's that for a fashion icon!
This old man is soooo adorable! He's the grandpa I've always wanted! His spirit is so intoxicating, I smiled throughout the whole movie. He represents the old New York -- the New York I wish I knew. A time when fashion was not just a fad, a reality show, or something so meaningless. Fashion was an art and only the true artists would contribute to the industry. In the documentary, Bill tells of his fashion stories meeting and working with some of the most influential people of all time. One of his close friends is legendary celebrity photographer, Editta Sherman. She also shared some of her stories and is quite a character! I would love to have a one on one discussion with these two and just listen and absorb their creative energy!
One thing Bill said that still Gives Me Life:
Fashion is the armor to survive the reality of everyday life"
So True!
