Inside Grace's wardrobe...

Princess Grace's vivid green Givenchy suit made two iconic appearances in 1961. The first appearance was at an informal May luncheon at the White House, where the Prince and Princess of Monaco were hosted by another glamorous power couple, President John F. Kennedy and First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy. The second appearance occurred shortly afterward when the princely couple made an official visit to Ireland, the home of Princess Grace's ancestors.

The Givenchy suit was made of fine wool and consisted of a knee-length sleeveless dress with a tie belt and matching fringed bolero jacket. She accessorized the outfit with her signature white gloves and a white turban hat by the milliner Jean Barthet.

In 2007, the suit was auctioned by Sotheby's New York at the 25th Anniversary Princess Grace Awards Gala with the proceeds benefiting the Princess Grace Foundation. In 2010, it was featured in the Grace Kelly: Style Icon exhibit at the V&A in London.
