Found this take on Twitter and I just want to put out there, as a fan author: PLEASE send me a weird cluster of emojis.  A heart.  Send me your keyboard smashes.  Put a single period/full stop and send me that comment.  Send me a gif.  Send me the weirdest takes.  I might end up baffled and spending an hour or two trying to figure out what you meant, but friend?  I am SO GLAD to see you reading my work.  SO GLAD.  Any sign that people are reading it is a surge of dopamine for me.  Please comment.  I am DYING for comments.  Kudos are great but I only get one of those per person per story.  I can get comments from people multiple times!!! I spend, at minimum, 10-20 hours on editing every chapter I put out.  On top of the hours spent writing and rewriting.  I work my ass off and the only thing I ask for in return is for people to read it.  I love making stories to share with people.  I love this process.  I love this community.  I would literally do anything to get more comments.  (And yes I do mean anything nudge nudge wink wink) I get that some people might not feel the same, and I respect that, but please understand that this take from twitter, of don’t send just emojis or we’ll want to block you?  It’s not universal and, dare I say it, it’s rare. GIVE ME EVERY REACTION.  THANK YOU.

FRIDAY FRIDAY FRIDAY: A GLACIER UPDATE

Has it been months since I posted?  Yeah.  Life happened.  School was overwhelming, I started a new job (beloved) with an extensive and soul-crushing orientation (but the job is great though, I just changed specialities which has a STEEP learning curve) and I broke my ankle and just.  Life, man. But I’m back.  And we’re doing the final edit passes on a new chapter of In the Company of a Glacier.  And it will be posted on Friday, just in time for my birthday (Sat Feb 11).  So you know.  Tell your friends or whatever.  Because I’m back, baby.  And I’m ready to see what you have to say.

At the moment, my work is looking at a potential strike, so I'm working extra shifts to make a bit of padding to get through the strike if we end up having to. We're also still in the process of moving. I'm also doing an 8 week uni course to get extra credentials for my job. I've had no free time at all to work on glacier, sadly. I know I put out some podfic stuff last month, but the energy banks to read someone else's work aloud are very different from the ones to finish working on this chapter. I'm hopeful that I might get some time to work on it next week, but I don't know if that will result in me getting it finished. My course ends on July 15, and we should be mostly moved by then. So it could be late July. The fic is totally not abandoned though and will continue. Just real life has impeded my fandom life pretty hard right now.

Thanks friend! I'm working hard on edits for the next chapter, but I've worked 116 hours in the past two weeks so I'm struggling to get it done. I'm hoping to share more by Monday or Tuesday.

TW: Paedophilia This is the song Jaskier writes about the Asshole Baron in chapter 18/19 of In The Company of a Glacier as part of a propaganda campaign to depose a corrupt asshole.  I haven’t finished all the verses, but the conceit is that he started with normal age brides and gets younger with each consecutive one (since the story has the baron married to a woman who seems very young to both Jaskier and Geralt, too young to be married to this man).  This verse is bride number five.  While cheerful and catchy the song is meant to condemn an asshole who’s taking brides too young and turn the peasants against him for stealing their daughters and letting them die, not to glorify paedophilia. Jaskier is using earworm powers to remind the peasantry that this man is a monster.  Full cowriting credits go to my amazing beta reader, Gremble!

Hi, I wanted to ask if their currently a Update Schedule for Glacier (just to keep me from refreshing the fic every hour because I really excited to see what the new chapter intales)

I mean it's gonna take as long as it's gonna, and for such a great fic their no wait to long!

Thank you so much for asking. My ideal goal schedule is 'roughly once a week.' In about 2-3 chapters, we should get back on that schedule. The initial draft for the winter we're currently in had some issues that I'm in the process of addressing so that the emotional arc of the story moves cleanly and smoothly. The past two chapters, for example, were total rewrites and much of the content never even appeared in the draft. I've also had some personal stuff going down (my fairytale level evil stepmother died and left me shook, my birthday is today, I've been working some extra hours at work where I work 12 hour overnights) that have delayed me. I am hoping to get the next chapter posted by mid week. This chapter, and the two following are likely to be on a wonky schedule, but then I am very very hopeful we'll get back to our 'roughly weekly' schedule. It's also worth noting that if I am going to post on a specific day, the most likely time of day for a post to go up is at roughly 5:00-5:59 pm central time. If we're past 6pm central time, that day will not have an update due to the AO3 time glitch. I'm sorry I don't have a more solid schedule for you at present. Believe me when I say that I desperately want to be posting regularly and weekly. I love sharing Glacier more than just about anything in the world.
