Susan has been evacuated from her home in Bonny Doon since Tuesday night. She took this photo Wednesday when it was still possible to drive up the coast to Davenport. As of yesterday, her home was still standing. Neighbors formed their own fire 🔥 brigades to defend properties going from home to home looking for flare ups. . CalFire has been unable to muster the resources to support all of the fires started by the unusual lightning storm ⛈ from last Saturday night. In the wee hours of Wednesday morning her friend opened her home to Susan’s husband and two fur babies, her cats Rocket 🚀 and Buttons. Unlike the Paradise “ Camp fire” that impacted her family, she had the luxury to pack precious items like photo albums and legacy family quilts. It will likely be months before anyone who still has a home will have electricity and water given all of the infrastructure that was lost. People have created GoFundMe pages for friends who have lost their homes 🏡. Santa Cruz Community Foundation has setup a fund for recovery. Recently Susan watched the 1963 movie Pollyanna about a young girl who played the “glad game” when disappointed. Susan is glad for her husband, friends and family. #bonnydoonstrong #santacruzstrong #gratitudeattitude #gladgame #pollyanna #californiastrong #bonnydoonfire (at Santa Cruz, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CEPFIFUghyq/?igshid=1co7458wyq61h
