where does your love for raccoons come from? :)

A couple reasons, I guess! I’ve lived in the PNW since I was a kid, so I see them a lot up here. I used to feed birds and squirrels and raccoons with my parents when I was younger, and I lived right next to the forest, so I guess I just came in contact with them a lot while I was growing up. Plus, a lot of my identity as a kid was “the mischievous trickster” so raccoons fit that bill :P

I’m not really sure whether I act like a raccoon because I love them, or if I love raccoons because I act like them!

Sattuuko sulla olee enemmän hajua siitä et pystyykö muumit tekemään mitään niiden hännällä? Vai raahaako sitä vaan perässään? Kaverin puolesta kyselen..

Lähinnä kai ne ilmaisee hännällä tunteita kuten monet hännän omaavat olennot. Ainakin muistan et Muumipeikko ja Niiskuneiti on joskus kietonut häntänsä söpösti yhteen, häntä jäykistyy joskus niiden pelästyessä tai järkyttyessä tai heiluu muuten matkassa. Ja siellä Papan orpokodissahan tervehdittiin joka aamu nostamalla häntä 45 asteen kulmaan (ja Pappa nosti sen 90 astetta ja sai kuulla kunniansa). Ne ei taida koskaan nostaa hännällä esineitä, eli ehkä niissä ei niin paljon voimaa ole. Tai onko joku niistä joskus roikkunut esim. puusta hännän varassa…

Voi itku mulle tulee tästä automaattisesti mieleen se yksi headcanon, josta kerroit (se, jossa ne tappelisi väsymykseen asti joskus Lehdon kuoleman jälkeen).

Ja siis se on täysin mahdollinen lopputulema, että nämä kaksi vain jatkaisivat tappelua, kunnes eivät jaksa enää ja horjahtavat vain selätysten maahan puuskuttamaan. Toisiaan vastaan ne hyvin voisi jatkaa tappeluaan hyvin kauan, osaksi siksi, että vaikka he tappelisivat tosissaan, tuskin kumpikaan haluaisi oikeasti todella satuttaa toista. (Kauheeta kuinka mulle tulee nyt vain mieleen ensimmäisestä Pokémon-elokuvasta se, kun pokemonit tappelevat kloonejaan vastaan kunnes molemmat uupuvat.)

Jos kuitenkin unohdetaan kaikki veljeydet ja kiintymykset, joita olemme fandomina tahtoneet näiden kahden välille kutoa, uskoisin Määtän voittavan tämän tappelun. Uskoisin Rahikaisesta löytyvän jonkin verran enemmän voimaa, mutta Määtän sinnikkyyden olevan tässä ratkaiseva tekijä. Siinä vaiheessa, kun Rahikaiselta puhti alkaa jo loppua, Määtässä on vielä virtaa. 

En itse näe Rahikaista kovin hyvänä nyrkkitappelijana, kun taas Määtän uskon oikeasti olevan tappelemisessa hyvä. Lisäksi Määtän liikkeet olisivat harkittuja ja suunniteltuja Rahikaisen varmaan lähinnä hutkiessa sinne, minne sattuu sillä hetkellä yltämään. Lisäksi vaikka molemmilla pojiilla on varmasti tietynlaista miehisyytensä todistelun tarvetta, luulisin tämän tarpeen olevan Määtällä paljon vahvempi ja että hän ei silkkaa ylpeyttään antaisi itsensä hävitä.

Mieleen tulee kuitenkin, että Rahikaisen juonikkuus ja älykkyys toki voisivat vaikuttaa niin, että tämä voittaisi. Suurimmassa osassa tilanteita kuitenkin veikkaisin voittajaksi Määttää.

@praximeter yes yes a recovering Winter Soldier-trying-to-remember-being-Bucky absolutely would question that, and would be justified in doing so. My goodness. How gut-wrenching.

@praximeter oh my god yes! But I also could kinda see Steve trying to apologise and saying, ”I’m sorry, Buck.” And Bucky goes quiet for a moment and just says, ”Yeah. You should be.”

I just love the idea that they’re reunited in the future, like the universe has given them another chance, but so much has changed and neither of them is what they used to be and it is just so _difficult_

You guys are both tapping into part of what’s truly terrible about the entire concept of TNW. It’s one thing for Bucky to be a historical figure, to have a plaque somewhere or a display in a museum. I think it’s another thing altogether for his most personal and private thoughts to have become a fixture on high school kids’ summer reading list.

The idea I got stuck on was: everybody in the world “knows” Bucky, except Bucky. It’s not just Steve, or his surviving siblings. It’s presidents who quoted him in State of the Union speeches and 19 year old Marines who call blowjobs “bennies” after Bucky’s Benedetta.

And how horrible to have this incredibly detailed reference of yourself, that means that everyone who meets you is looking for that guy that they feel they know? Any time you interact, people are looking for evidence of him, for “oh, that’s how he would have pronounced that word!” and “that’s not what I thought he’d sound like.” Bucky was frozen in time in TNW: and once he’s trying to come to terms with being a person, it is impossible for him not to have this awful comparison in the back of his mind, worse than in canon because it’s so deeply personal. 

The insane pressure to be that guy, to talk like him, to look like him, to not let people down -- I can’t imagine how bitter and angry and resentful he will be -- rightfully. And the thing is, people will even try NOT to have those expectations -- but for someone like Steve? Or Rebecca? Or Teddy? They can’t help but look at him and try to find pieces of the guy he once was.

Not only all of that... but TNW was published in 1947. You think HYDRA didn’t read it?
