lol i was actually looking at the requirements to join. i’m a mildly competent writer and not esl (????) so i could get by. one catch: only willing to write about the newbies and ladies. we’ll see how it goes.
You might as well! I am still tempted to join and try and get a Rynique arc (with lots of other newbieness in there, too), I know I wouldn't be the only one wants that... Also I questioned them on the esl requirement and they've said they're removing that, because it's ridiculous.

Isn’t this why AU fanfic was invented in the first place? What is wrong with each of us writing our own fic? Why do they want people to come together and agree on some kind of “alternate canon”?
Because doing things with other people is fun? I mean, the idea that this is one specific wider "alternate canon" is not an idea I'm into personally, but the idea of working with a subset of fandom to come together to create something is totally my bag.

That is fair. Also, you should write that! I don't know which people are running it, so I can't say whether they are people who say that (chances seem high as there's a correlation between those people and people who call the writers idiots, but I don't actually know if these people do). I mean, really the best way to make that happen would be to sign up and pitch that idea, but they aren't making it appealing to most people who would write that, it seems.
