Songs for a Ship
Thanks for the tags @sandcastlekings @genjyoandgojyoandhakkai Saw this one floating around and finally had a chance to think through it. 😂 Tagging @seaglassmelody @davrinsleftpectoral @blackwall-my-tiny-husband @serialsforbellara and anyone else who wants to play <3
Rules: Provide 3 songs that represent your ship (or OC, if you would rather talk just about them) in three different scenarios.
1) A song that represents the ideal version of that ship, whether it be what they want their relationship to be or how they see themselves through rose-tinted glasses. 2) A song that represents how that ship sees themselves in their current form.3) A song that represents what they really are, whether that means how the rest of the world sees them or how they are viewed through a more objective lens.

1.Blackmore's Night/Once in a Million Years (The ideal/the dream - for two romantics who have had absolutely no luck in the romance department before they found each other <3)
A castle, it stands upon a hill
Our eyes meet and time is standing still
Your smile warmed me like the first summer sun
There's color, where once was black and white
There's moonbeams where there was only night
I knew then and there you were the one
Then Once in a Million Years
A shining white knight will appear
Fairytales are coming true
I promise my heart only to you...
2. Seanan McGuire/Cartography (The reality. Love is work - the push and pull and trials of being known and wanting to know another person, good and bad. They both experience the struggle and acknowledge it's worth.)
(No video available. Seanan's music is amazing though - you'll have to take my word for it or buy one of her CDs)
I know you; I met you
A long, long time ago
But you're still a stranger:
There's so much I don't know
Can I walk across your borders?
Will your guardsmen let me through?
I have empty hands and pockets
I intend no harm to you...
So trust me; believe me
When I say I'll take care
I can't come the whole way
I'll meet you halfway there
Come and wander through my cities
Meet the people I have been
I have left my gates unguarded
You are welcome, please, come in ...
We're each of us a nation on our own
And I am a cartographer at heart
I will chart the valley of your dreams
Call the secrets from your stones
If you don't want me to love you
Then please don't let me start ...
3. Glen Phillips/I Was a Riot (The outside perspective/how it is. Two very damaged people who find peace with each other - who learn to trust themselves through the trust the other person shows them. 💕)
Like when I was a riot of color and light
I was the song on your lips in the night
When dreams were deferred, your mind wouldn’t rest
The weight of the world sat hard on your chest
When you were the view at the top of the climb
You were the breath and the pausing of time
You were the peace I had wondered if I
Could ever deserve or ever would find
When I was a riot and you were the peace
I see your heart
Your shadow, too
I trust your word
I trust in you
And slow but sure
And with your help
Maybe I’ve come
To trust myself
