Do you think it's possible Cloud instead will hold a sword to Aerith instead of hitting her? It's definitely more doable in today's graphics and it still shows Sepiroth's control over him but he doesn't actually physically harm her, it's more of a threat of violence which still isn't great but not as brutal
He does that in the forgotten city right before Sephiroth kills her. I could see that playing out as it is if the devs don't change the setup that much. In the temple of the ancients it'd have a bigger impact if he trips out since the whole dungeon makes you question your sense of time, identity and reality.
Honestly, I just think it'd be a really intense and impactful way to update OG. Cloud thinks he's hurt Aerith, but he hasn't. Which explains everyone else brushing it off. And it works within the rating guidelines, which is the big factor. As a developmental editor, if I was gonna update that scene, that's how I'd do it. It's still faithful to OG, but modern and massively emotive, which is the point of it. Cloud loses himself. We see smol Cloud trying to drag him back from Sephiroth's influence. It's powerful already, but there's a lot of elements going into it that could make it cluttered.
Random cuts, voices, scattered imagery all from 1st person Cloud's pov (through his eyes) would give us everything and more.
I know however we get it, it'll be amazing because it's one of the best moments in game plot wise. Nojima clearly knows how to write Cloud and I trust him. They're gonna make it shine and make us cry. I'm excited for it ❤️😁❤️😁❤️😁
