I used to be a bit afraid of the mega forms.
Most of them have insane stats and I still didn't plan on using any of them so I felt underpowered when I entered battle spot to battle some random guy.
But that battle freed me from my fear of megas.
My opponent's lead was Mega Garchomp and I had my Ambipom, still lv.47 because I had forgot that the level won't rise in global battles.
I began with Fake Out and had a Normal gem and Technician to boost the power (+stab), but it didn't take even 1/4 of that monster's HP. I saw my doom coming up.I started using Acrobatics, it was pretty much the only thing to do. It didn't do much damage, but on the second turn my opponent used Dragon Rush, and it missed. Yayy, I thought. Another Acrobatics there and I got his HP on yellow. He uses Dragon Claw this time, but my Ambipom stays alive with 15hp.
Now think about that. Mega Garchomp's base attack is horrifying 170. Dragon claw is a pwr80 stab, so it goes up to 120.My Ambipom is ev-trained for speed and attack, so it has no boosts for its sad 66 base defense that is already slightly lower because Ambipom was lv.47 instead of 50.
At that moment I was asking myself: "Is that Garchomp MODEST or something??"
After that I did Acrobatics once more, it landed critical hit and tadaa, my monkey had defeated my worst nightmare.
So bring on your megas and let's see what you can do against my Dr. Fingers.
