‘The time to act is now.’ Stephen Hawking is calling on you to help promote the #globalgoals
I wish law makers and politicians are heeding this message and working towards these goals instead of wasting tax-payers’ money and world’s resources on keeping themselves in position and power.
So, after watching The Fine Bros do there recent Youtubers React video, this one actually got me thinking.
The video the Fine Bros did was the Comment System on youtube. For those of you who have already seen it they used Pewdiepie's video which was "Goodbye Youtube Comments Forever" or something like that. Basically Pewdie talked about how the comment section has been so over run by spam, advertisement, and hateful things that it's hard to see his fans comments, quoting that "the bros weren't really there."
Towards the end of the video, Pewdie tells everyone that he's disabling the comments on his videos forever. Meaning no one would be able to comment on any of his videos that he posted.
This, I believe, greatly effected his career. Without any comments from the bros, it makes his fans believe that he has giving up with trying to deal with the trolls or haters, also making them believe that he doesn't seem to care that much about his fans or what they have to say.
Now, here's what I think.
The youtubers who reacted to the video got to say how they feel about this situation and what their opinions are. I agree with a majority of the things they said.
It is just so sad to go on a video that is really amazing and great, seeing the hard work someone puts in these videos. The main people that I watch videos from is Markiplier, Cryaotic, and Rooster Teeth/Acheivement Hunter. I love these guys so much and the community they've created. As soon as I scroll down to the comments,
the smile on my face just fades away.
I see just so many hateful comments and stupid arguments between fans and haters, sometimes I see fans who argue against each other, and it's just sad to see this. These people make these videos for everyone's entertainment. Not only that but they advertise some really amazing games, recommending gamers to try them out. If they don't have the money, well they get to enjoy, laugh, and cry at these great games these people play.
I will admit that I don't watch Pewdiepie's videos that much anymore (for my own reasons, I don't think he's a bad person or anything), but I don't go and say hateful stuff, because I'm a bit more mature than some people who have too much power over the comment sections.
It's not just youtube either, websites like facebook, twitter, tumblr, deviantart, those kind of social sites are where people get the most hate from, which is where cyberbullying comes into play.
Robby Motz from Equals Three mentions that cyberbullying has become a big issue on the internet, and it's true. You see it almost everyday where people say the most horrible and most awful things to each other, one of the worst places where cyberbullying happens is on tumblr. Reason being is because people have the power to send anonymous messages, making their identity a secret and the free will to say whatever they want. This makes this website both dangerous and threatening. Facebook comes in second place.
The result of cyberbullying is many people committing suicide or attempting too, some even suffer serious symptoms of depression, anxiety, sleep disorders, and panic attacks, because they can't handle this much stress or can't handle being hurt by a stranger.
The reason some people are affected by hateful comments so easily is because it's a natural human reactions. It's just like walking down the street and someone tries to steal your purse or someone tries to kidnap you. Who's to say it won't happen again? You may get one bad comment or two, but it may happen again and again. Your body reacts in a way that sends a signal from your brain to your nerves and every part of your body telling you that you're not safe. This is what can cause a mental illness from acting up at some point. When the body makes you feel like you're not safe, you start to go under stress which is why some people have panic attacks or anxiety.
I've been in this situation where I was getting hateful comments a lot for no reason, and when someone told me to ignore them I did. It didn't work. No matter how much I ignored it I still got them. It went on for weeks and got to the point where I couldn't take it, that's when I disappeared from Tumblr for months.
The reason I'm talking about this is because something needs to be done. We as a community need to step in and put an end to all of this somehow. Not only that but I believe the creators of these websites could also get together and talk to find out what they can do to prevent the cyberbullying and such from happening, or find a way for it to decrease at least.
That's all I have to say, thank you to those who read this. Please please PLEASE spread the word!
